This is not going to be a main rig just something to play on to see what intel is like compared to what i have. Any and all help is appreciated and welcome.

Only problem i see is all the bad reviews on them i like to get a board with at least 70% is main reason im asking.

Looks good.  Seems a little expensive for just something to tinker with.  Don't forget to look at ivy bridge processors and z77 mb.  They are newer with PCI3 3.0 and newer integrated graphics.

looking now mark and thank you.
When i mean tinker it means taking a month to build it and yes just try a game or 2 on it with windows 8 rc1 so i can try it out and only 1 monitor. Has been years since i used an intel and im curious how they are now even though im perfectly happy with what i have now i like tinkering and i can always sell it if i dont like it.

I don't know about the costings in the USA but generally they are somewhat cheaper than here in the UK. It really depends on what you want to do with the system really.  Bang for buck I would say the best thing to go fo is the i5 2500K unless you want to use the onchip graphics then I would try the newer 3rd generation Ivybridge chips. Again if you are l,ooking to use the built in graphics probably a Z77 board is best for you. The onchip GPU won't do any hard core games but is fine for lower to mid range use.

As long as you don't need all the extras like 3 way SLI/Crossfire etc the G1. Sniper M3 is a good board even though it is a Micro ATX version. It will take two GPUs, has decent sound system, PCIE3, SATA3, USB3 etc and has the Z77 chipset.

Well i have the case a good one and the dvd drives and 8 gig of ddr3 at 1600, and a sapphire 3850 so al i need is a cpu, mb, psu as the one i have i dont trust it with the 3850. So onboard graphics isnt really being considered i want something that is decently recent by intel though the cost is going to be higher than 100. more than a 8 core cpu from amd in a ud3h.

I fix others computers and build for family and friends not like i was 2 to 5 years ago where i was building 25 or so a year. I like a back up and plan to put it in the spare bedroom that i sleep in most nights, that way i out of the other halfs hair.

I know what you mean there! Always best to have a room to be able to lose yourself in.
