990XA - UD3 won't POST
« on: June 21, 2012, 05:23:59 pm »
Hi everyone, new member here.
Just got back my GB 990XA - UD3 Mobo with a new BIOS chip installed because the old one was fried. While the system worked perfectly before the repair, now it won't even POST! I've got an AMD FX 8120. I don't know what BIOS version they installed, the BIOS chip reads:

MXIC. MX.
25L3206E
M2I-12G
7A450100
L113498

Do I need to update BIOS to get it up and running?

If you sent it into gigabyte when they send them back to you they are at the latest bios level. Try resetting the bios by removing battery for 5 minutes with the power off to motherboard. If that doesnt work please open a support ticket to gigabyte.

It wasn't replaced by GIGABYTE, it was replaced by local technicians (where I got the mainboard from). They mentioned that they put the latest BIOS but now I'm not so sure... anyone knows what BIOS version is my chip?

ddownload cpuz and see what bios version you have then check to see what the latest is. if it isnt the latest update it.

Well, if I could access my PC I would... but as I said above, it won't even POST. Nothing appears on screen.

only other option is to use someones else's computer and download latest bios then flash yours if it will go that far. Otherwise send to gigabyte and let them do it.

Check to see that the ram is seated properly and that there are no bent pins or debris on the cpu. Then short the clear CMOS pins and try again.

Did the tech who made the repair, get it to work ?

Have you ruled out the other gear ?

Is the mobo properly mounted to the case ?
