3 Gb/s Sata Slot Problem

3 Gb/s Sata Slot Problem
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:49:17 am »
Hi..

I have a GA-P67A-UD4.. The 6gb/s Sata slots work fine but the 3gb/s Slots dont detect any hardware. They dont show up in the bios or get detected in the OS (OSX Lion). Work fine when connected to the 6gb/s.. Ive tried changing cables, Disabled Full screen Logo, HDD Delay to 15secs. Smart Enabled/Disabled, Sata Mode AHCI.. Just wanted to know if there was anything else I can try before going to the service center....

Thanks

Hi and welcome.

The only thing I can suggest is that you make sure that theyu are enabled in the BIOS. It is possible that the SATA3  is enabled whereas the SATA2 isn't. Normally it is by default so I tend to think that this is not the problem but you never know. You could try loading Optimised BIOS Defaults after clearing the CMOS just to make sure.

To clear the CMOS and then load the settings follow these instructions :

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Hey. thanks for the promt reply..

I tried wht you said and here is wht happened.. It took almost 3 to 4 restarts for it to detect any hardware and go into bios. It always hung.. It did start eventually after a while but nothing changed.. I loaded optimum settings and  still only the 6GB/s slots work :( ..

Anything else I can try maybe!!?

Thanks agian..
