Easy Tune 6 and i7 2700K
« on: July 22, 2012, 02:41:32 am »
Hi
I have a new computer (8 weeks old) and thought i would overclock it slightly...that way i bought a "k" processor 2700k i use a gigabyte z68xp-ud3 MB  16gb ram
SO i used using tune 6 on the ist green level ..its says it should go to 4.18gz mine reads 3900gz in bios (thats OK)
BUT i get a message on boot up saying i have had boot failures beacause of overclocking or changes of voltages
all i have done is click the green easy tune 6 button i would have thought that gigabyte supplied software would have worked !!
MY QUESTIONS
1..how do i fix this to get stable bootups ??
2..How do i get it back to standard the default botton on easytune 6 doesn't work !!
3..how do i do a mild overclock 4-4.2 Ghz stablely ??
4..do i have to overclock in bios..think i could do that but any guides or settings or links to help acheive 4-4.2 GHZ ??
Any help appreciated..computers are frustrating !!

Hi Aj.

Since I see no replies to your post, check your manual for the board.   There should be reset switch on the back of the board or a jumper on the board to reset to the Bios default.    Most overclockers will tell you not to use the smart 6 to overclock but to use the manual method.  I would seset the Bios as described in the manual and not overclock unless you spend a lot more time to understand what is happening with the system on overclock, memory has a lot to do with amount of overclock.    Good luck and perhaps someone else will give you more advise.

From experience, you're better to change the settings in the BIOS. I've never really got on with the Windows utilities provided by Gigabyte.
