970A-UD3 audio

Greetings!  I just swapped this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157226 for this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128519  in my 5yr. old sons pc. So far it performs well with the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition. Taking it up to 3.8GHz with the G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1600 memory. This is for my 5 yr. old who plays several train sim games on it.  It has WXP~32 and I didn't reinstall the OS, just installed the new Mobo drivers.

The only issue is I cant get the HD audio (Realtek) to be recognized.  I tried several times to install the audio driver from disc and from the Gigabyte site but it just wont work. Not too much if a big deal since my son uses the PLANTRONICS .Audio 655 USB head set. Anyway I just got W7~64 in the mail today so a new OS install is in it's future.

Windows 7 will install your audio drivers automatically or you can update them from site.

Oh wow! I had totally forgotten about this thread. I just got my order of W7~64 in the mail last week from Newegg and installed last night. I didnt even have to run the motherboard driver cd. W7 installed the driver on its on and now the onboard audio is working fine. The only thing I can see that caused it not to work in WXP~32 is that it was not a clean/freash install of WXP.

Glad you got it working, driver conflicts can cause alot of problems sometimes a clean install is the only way to go. That is a feature of windows 7 i like no more motherboard disk...lol
