GA-Z77-D3H & hard drives and fans
« on: September 10, 2012, 09:01:20 pm »
I have just bought this board - switching from ASUS. My questions are:

1. I have one SDD and three SATA drives. Connecting these to D3H, am I likely to "damage" the data apart from the drive letters not being in my   current  sequence?

2. My Coolmaster 1000 case has 120mm fans with 3 pin headers. Can I use these in the D3H 4 pin slots? If so, which pins please?

Many thanks

1 - Nope, just be sure that if your ASUS board is set to IDE mode for SATA, that your GIGABYTE board is set to IDE too. If the Gigabyte SATA mode is set to AHCI, boot up, change the registry entry to allow AHCI and then switch it in the BIOS. There's a guide here

2 - Yes, the guide on the plug should line up with the socket. There's like a ridge on the back of the fan connector. The 4th wire is the sense wire, which tells the chipset how fast the fan is going so it's not needed.
