990XA-UD3 and FX6 bulldozer. updated BIOS, can't get past windows logo.

Hey everyone, I've got a problem. I bought my PC back in november last year which was put together by the guys at novatech and has been fine ever since until today. My mb and processor specs are:

AMD FX-6 bulldozer
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3

Here's the problem: Today I decided to buy the game CounterStrike: GO which I soon found out has a problem with working with certain AMD FX processors and motherboards, and the way to get around this is to update your BIOS. I did everything instructed by downloading Gigabytes Touch BIOS and the most recent BIOS for my motherboard using @BIOS (yes I now know.. :( ). It seemed to install fine and then restarted for the changes to take place...

when my PC first booted, it got the the windows logo, then a brief blue screen comes up for a split second and then it rebooted again. This time I got to the selection of either
'Launch startup repair'
'Start windows normally'
But when I go onto the repair option, windows can't find a solution and asks me to get in touch with the manufacture, which I'm doing now.

Is there anything I can do now myself? My motherboard is supposed to have dualbios for these situations but I know I didn't back my BIOS up, and I'm not sure if they're backed up auto or if novatech would have done that when building the pc. I can get into the BIOS set-up which I've done so to look for the dualbios launcher.. it just won't get past the windows logo.

I can try and get a photo of the blue screen if necessary.

If you need any more info just ask.. Thanks.

Hi there,

not exactly sure what the problem is but the first thing I would do is re-flash the BIOS using a USB pendrive and QFlash. Check this FAQ http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html for more information on that.

Once you have re-flashed the BIOS remember to go into the BIOS and check your settings as they will change during the update process. You will probably have to change a few things to get everything running properly again. Not knowing how your system was initially setup it is hard to say exactly what you will need to change but I would check  the SATA controllers as I would assume these should be AHCI Mode rather than Native IDE (only guessing on this though).

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

I would say when you updated the bios you checked reset all back to default. if you run ram that needs over volting etc, this would be causing the crash. I would also suggest, finding the option in your bios to change the sata mode , if it was installed in AHCI mode it would have reverted to IDE or raid mode, and if thats the case it would be stopping at the windows screen. I recomend the last option, then find out the specs of your ram and make sure the voltage is set right.
