Hello, this is my first post and I do hope someone will be able to help me. I've recently built a PC and I'm having a few issues:
In summary, some of my USBs at the back of the computer do not work, I believe the VIA Chipset USBs aren't working (the Upper ones are however functioning - think they're Intel): when I plugged my microphone into the VIA USBs the light came on but there was no USB Noise or any other recognition of it. I've also tried a USB storage device but again no noise of recognition was heard (not sure the light was on either). I've not tried the Ethernet port but that's not my main concern although it would be nice to get rid of all those exclamation marks (as seen below on the Device Manager window).
Here are some of my specs:-
OS: Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit.
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V
Processor: Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K
BIOS Version: F15
This is what my Device Manager looks like:
And when I scan for hardware changes, it attempts to install the drivers but fails:
I've scoured various sources, updated the BIOS and scared myself! As after it had finished updating it prompted "No operating system found" and after a reboot it loaded Windows fine (very odd!). I confirmed with CPU Z that it had updated the motherboard fine.
I have come to the conclusion that I need to update the VIA USB drivers; so I've tried to install the drivers found on the Gigabyte Downloads page for my motherboard. And unfortunately this occurs:
Unfortunately this happens on two other sources where I had found a VIA driver.
I've tried to install it in Safe Mode but an error 1607 occurs after that and I've tried to install it after a "Clean Boot". Still no avail, I've made sure I've right clicked Run as Admin on all occasions and I just can't get it working (please note: I am the only User on this computer). I've checked that my Install Service is functioning and it is and my Windows Update is fully up to date.
I've read something about how Windows having some issues with drivers when a is USB being plugged in when the machine is booted up for the first time, but I don't believe I used the VIA USB ports for my mouse, if that would be an issue?
I hope that this post is alright, I did look through the forums to see if there was any similar issues but none seem to describe the 1608 error that I'm getting. I realise that this may be more of a OS issue but I've yet to tackle the problem of the Ethernet or SM Bus Controller and am very open to suggestions. If anyone requires additional information, I will happily comply.
Many thanks!
