Hi all
I have the above board and need to connect to my amp with component cables, now i have been told that if this board outputs dvi-a (analogue) all i would need is a dvi-a ->component adaptor.
So anyone help with this i know the old radeons could do this but can't find out if this board would do this
Thanks
Robert

Make sure that you check your manual first as a lot of these boards wont work with an adaptor. Otherwise I can't see a problem. Our resident guru, absic, on this is not here today but I am sure he would know.

Some ATI HD 4000 Series video cards include a Component HDTV ADAPTER. The Video Out [S-Video, Composite, HDTV] port is not too common anymore as the Video Out port is being replaced with an HDMI port on most newer models.
You can see the Component HDTV ADAPTER cable in one of these pictures:

You haven't said what revision your board is can you post it please? It is silk screen printed on the bottom left under the slots.
Actually on all revisions it is the same they only have DVI-D outputs along with VGA and HDMI.

Hi Robert,
Not really sure what you are trying to achieve, is it video or audio output?
If it's audio only output, why do you want to use the DVI?
More details of your system would also help for example what kind of amp are you using?
Do you want stereo, 5.1, 7.1?
The more info you can provide the easier it will be to offer a practical solution to your problem. ;)

Thanks everyone for the helpfull replies, more info follows
I have a sanyo projector that only has component and a vga input and at the moment it is connected by the components to my av receiver (sony strdb 1200es).
So at the moment i can feed my dvd into the amp and get it on the projector, now looking to connect my pc to the projector and can't seem to find out anything about the boards video output.
I have been reading up and if the board will output an anologue signal on the dvi socket then all i would need is an dvi-> component adaptor, but if it only outputs a digital signal from the dvi socket then i wouuld need a convertor box (too costly) and would probably have to go down the lower vga route.
So only looking for an anologue video output from the on board video.
Thanks
Robert

Hi,
as Dark Mantis mentioned earlier the only Analogue output is from the VGA socket on the motherboard. From what I can find out the others only offer Digital.

Thanks for the reply, missed that point in his reply looks like a 10m vga cable then if i don't want to use a separate video card
Thanks again
