GA-F2A88X-D3H 1 long beep two short, no video
« on: December 08, 2015, 12:24:49 am »
Hi All,

I'm building two identical computers, following the Good spec on logicalincrements.com.  On both machines, when poweron, I get 1 long beep, two short beeps.  I cannot get any video from either the VGA or DVI onboard ports.  I read here http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/faq-page.aspx?fid=816  that it's a "memory error", but have found nothing more informative.  I've reseated the ram, used one stick or two, no change.

Any ideas/insight would be most welcome, as these are christmas gifts for the kids and I still need to get everything installed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

sorry to correct you but 1 long beep and two short beeps usually indicate a graphics error. http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=2248.0

If you could post back with full hardware details it will be easier to help you. If you're not sure of what information is required check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=2195.0

GIGABYTE GA-F2A88X-D3H FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) 8 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

SanDisk SSD PLUS 2.5" 120GB SATA Revision 3.0 (6 Gbit/s) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDA-120G-G25
GIGABYTE R7 370 Windforce 1015MHZ 2GB 5.6GHZ GDDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Video Card (Part#: GV-R737WF2OC-2GD)
EVGA 500B 80 PLUS BRONZE CERTIFIED 500W POWER SUPPLY 120MM FAN 3 YEARS WARRANTY (Part#: 100-B1-0500-KR)
Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case with High Airflow, Supporting up to Six 120mm Fans and USB 3.0

Note that I don't have the graphics card put in, I'm just using the onboard ports so far.

Saw the beep codes here:  http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/faq-page.aspx?fid=816

So I guess my question is, how can I have a graphics error with the onboard graphics only?  And on TWO motherboards.

Sadly the problem is that the CPU you have chosen doesn't have a built in GPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-athlon-x4-860k-black-edition-kaveri-quad-core-s-fm2plus-37ghz-2mb-x-2-cache-95w-retail which you need to use the on-board graphics ports. As the system is not detecting a graphics chip it is giving you the beep codes.

You will need to add a GPU to both systems for them to work or change to a different processor that has in-built graphics such as this one: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-a8-7670k-black-edition-cpu-with-fan-plus-heatsink-fm2plus-godavari-quad-core-36ghz-radeon-r7-757 which is an A Series APU (Advandced Processing Unit)
