I recently bought a H67A-UD3H-B3 for my new Sand Bridge configuration which I associated with a Core i7 2600K, 8Gb of GSkill and a Corsair TX-650W V2.
A very high pitched noise comes from around the CPU socket when the CPU is idle. For example, if I start a video in VLC, the coil whine disappears, when I pause the video it comes back. The noise isn’t modulated in any way and is constant in pitch typically like a coil whine.
The noise appears when Win7 (x64) starts up but is not present before (in the BIOS for exemple).
I read about related problems on GB forums and tried to deactivate some power saving related features in the BIOS. This brings me to an interesting point: the deactivation of the “C3/C6 states” makes the coil noise disappear. The deactivation of “C1E state” or “EIST” don’t change anything.
The only problem is that without C3/C6 states, the Intel TurboBoost don’t work correctly. Normally the 2600K is clocked to 3.4 Ghz (34 x 100) and can reach 3.8 Ghz (38x100) one core. Without C3/C6 states the TB is limited to 3.5 Ghz (35 x 100) which is not acceptable for me.

I’m seriously considering sending back the mobo under warranty because the noise is really unbearable.
Does anybody had the same problem with this mobo ?
Another point, the BIOS gives me the possibility to change the multiplier (between 16 and 38) but when I set it to 38 instead of 34, I still have 3,4 Ghz under Windows. Is this related to the non-overclocking nature of the H67 ?
