ga-z68x-ud3h-b3/windows 8.1 UEFI bios settings
« on: April 15, 2014, 01:28:38 am »
Hi Folks.
I'm using the bare board (v1.0) with a clean install of Windows 8.1. When I installed it, it locked up after restart. I hard reset it and it booted to the start page. Then while surfing the web, it went blank for a second, and came back on with a "Secure boot settings not confgured correctly" message in the lower right. he bios is 1UL. I need to make sure the UEFI settings are all correct. Is anyone familiar with the proper setting? Thanks. ;D

Here is some one that put up some good info on how to upgrade to the UEFI bios.

Plus there is a hotfix for the secure boot from Microsoft.

Thanks for the info. So, I have discovered that my Gigabyte video card will not allow the computer to post when SECURE BOOT is on. This problem requires pulling the video card, going into UEFI with the onboard video, and setting SECURE BOOT off. Then I can install my card (GV-R6970C-2GD) and boot the computer. Then I get the "secureboot is not configured correctly" watermark in the lower right corner. I understand there is a microsoft patch to take care of that issue. Does anyone know if my video card will work with SECURE BOOT? Is there a video bios update available? I can't find one.

I could be wrong but that card doesn't support UEFI. That is the problem with the secure boot is not configured correctly.

That is why the hotfix is there.  Plus there is no bios update for that card.

I tried to get a fix from Gigabyte. They suggested that legacy oprom be selected for "other pci device rom priority", but CSM has to be enabled for you to have access to that setting. CSM is  automatically disabled when you set Secure boot on.

I disabled secure boot, and installed the patch. Moving on. Thanks everyone for your input.
