GA-B85N - How does "40% Faster ON/OFF CHARGE" work
« on: October 02, 2014, 09:26:56 pm »
Hi,
Just got a GA-B85N and it works great, but I plugged my Nexus 5 in to one of the USB 2.0 front ports and it didn't charge very fast at all.
I'm presuming that I'm missing something.  The Gigabyte site points to windows drivers, but I'm not running windows.  I'm confused as to how the operating system will assist with charging a USB Device when turned off.
Anyone have any experience with this tech, particularly with Linux installed.

Thnx

The reduced charging time means it only takes about two hours to fully charge your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, something that would take in excess of three hours using a standard USB port.

*With a simple On/Off Charge driver update, GIGABYTE motherboard users are able to take full advantage of USB charging of their iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, giving them more options and convenience when recharging their new device.

* Due to certain mobile phone limitations, users may need to connect the mobile phone to their PC before the PC
enters S4/S5 mode to enable a quick charge from non ON/OFF Charge USB ports.
* Maximum 3 devices can be charged at the same time. Charging current may vary with PSU 5V stand-by spec

When you install the ON/OFF charge driver, please update the latest BIOS version for the best product efficiency.

Up to 40% faster than a regular USB 2.0

Also as it states it is best to do it when computer is on  or before it goes into sleep state. There is a driver for windows for it so some of it has to be operating system dependent.

It also works when computer is of but again the 40% faster is for when driver is installed and latest bios used.
