GA-M56S-S3 RAM problem

GA-M56S-S3 RAM problem
« on: November 26, 2014, 10:47:03 pm »
So, I've been looking for some time now, but I've got no solutions.
So, I've recently bought RAM, and it came here recently.
Ever since then, I've been trying to get em to work, but no good.

It's a 2x2GB of kingston memory.
I experimented with the mem. I used until today, the Corsair XMS2 memory.
I've tried switching the DIMMs, slots, blabla, but no good.
Obviously,me being an idiot, I (for some unknown reason) plugged the RAM in the PC, while it was turned on.
And I realized that, despite that being really idiotic, it kinda worked-> in CPUID, it detects the 2GB stick, alongside the XMS2 stick. Did the same with the other stick, and then it easily detects 6144MB of RAM.
But if I restart the PC, it doesn't boot. Doesn't even POST->just starts beeping (long repeating beep).
The rest of the PC:
-Athlon x2 4050e
-HD2600 XT
-SMB400 PSU
-Seagate Barracuda 120GB and Maxtor 80GB HDD (both ATA,i'm poor :l )

~BIOS is F6H (updated from F4e), as I'm going to upgrade to Athlon II x4 600e,tomorrow, or day after that.

Also, it's just the CPUID that detects the 6GB of RAM. I checked in msconfig is it limited to 2GB,it's not.
Even tho it's 32 Bit Win7, it shouldn't have a problem detecting up to 4GB of RAM.

Thanks for reading.

(also, if you need any info, feel free to ask.)

Well, firstly, your mobo is from 2007 (cough)

There is a good chance there is a compatibility problem - does the new 2 ram sticks boot up when the other ram is removed?

The new ram same specs than the old one?

In case you overclock - reset everything to default/auto and see if that helps

They... do not.
The RAM is, according to the seller exactly the same specs, but I discovered that it's just lower frequency and higher CAS latency.
I'm not overclocking, as I got a bad chip that doesn't want to stand 1mhz higher frequency.
So, it's probably a problem with the RAM compatibility.
+the RAM doesn't seem like a legit piece of hardware(might just me being an idiot again, but ok):
afaik, each ram has it's part number- my XMS2 has CMS2x2048-6400C5, and the new RAM one is kingston2gb800.
In my eyes, that doesn't seem legitimate ( not sure why ).

Well, it is usually good advise to never mix 2 brands of ram and expect it to work nicely - the rams might even be of different voltage.

exchange the ram to same brand and see if that works however it's no guarantee coz your board is fairly old.

The RAMs are same voltage- 1.8V.
Gonna see with the seller if I can get refunds or something, and just buy another DIMM of XMS2 2GB.
