That's quite a bit of graphics horsepower for 5+ yr old hardware.  I'd like to say it won't be a problem and will run at PCIe 2.0 spec, but we've seen some compatibility issues with older 55, 58 and 67 series chipsets when trying to run Gen 3 GPU's.  I'd definitely upgrade to the latest BIOS available for the board if you plan to try.  My preferred brand of GPUs is EVGA, but we all have our favorites.

Thanks Mr. Shadow

To be Honest i did already updated my bios to the latest update available on gigabyte web site
and its true as you said on most websites and forums people complain about this comparability issue
with older motherboards
Updating the bios solved it For Some and didn't for some (and that's what scares me)
buying the graphing card and not working would force me To Upgrade Everything MOBO,CPU ..etc
so i came here looking for the definitive answer ...

and regarding brands i also like EVGA and still comparing the G1 to the 970 SSC
