H170 Series abandoned support!!!
« on: September 08, 2016, 03:08:51 pm »
I'm here to express my total displeasure towards the abandon attitude that Gigabyte had with the H170 motherboard series!!!
I have bought last autumn a H170-D3HP mobo, thinking that it was top of the line, even if it was from the H170 series.
It has USB 3.1, Thunderbolt, USB-C, etc.
I'm having tons of bugs with this mobo. Last BIOS update was last march, but still haven't fixed my major bugs, failure on hibernation and failure on intel sata driver (irst) from first cold boot.

I have to say that half of this was my own fault. I should have never bought another mobo from the usual brand that I usually buy, Asus. This is a lesson that I have to remind for the future to come.

I demand the same treatment that Z170 series have!!!

The H170 got 2 BIOS revisions last year after release and has one for 2016.  While its been a while, having a BIOS in the last 6 or so months doesn't constitute abandoned support in my opinion. I'm running a BIOS from 2014 on my board. Last BIOS for it was released in 2015.

If this is a concern to you, have you looked for any beta BIOS?  That's said, having the latest BIOS doesn't mean it will be better.

If you are having issues and want help, you need to provide your system specs, OS and the specific issues you are experiencing.   If you are running windows 10, issues related to Power Management are related to that OS..  not your hardware, I assure you.

My Asus Z68 has been choking with each new iteration of the OS.  Just when I think I have it dialed in again, it won't go to sleep, doesn't resume from standby, or doesn't find my RAID array on boot... Next update, everything works..  3 weeks later and I'm ready to throw it out the window.

Asus is your usual brand.  It was mine too, for 13 years, but they will probably never see another dollar of my hard earned money again.  After my experiences and dealing directly with their Tech Support.  The few times I actually needed them they didn't come through, don't stand behind their product and left me out in the cold.  No sympathy from me...  sorry.  All mainboard manufacturers have issues.  Sure you'll have less if you stick with the bigger outfits, but none are perfect.

So lets not turn this into a bashing thread.  If you want help, let us know what you have and what you are dealing with.  We can't solve everything, but there are a lot of good people here who are happy to try and help.

where can I look for the beta bios, beside here http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5521#bios ??
Last time I remember, beta bios were posted there. If there's another place where Gigabyte post beta bios, feel free to tell me... but I doubt they do that for my mobo. It has past 6 months after their last bios was released.

My problem is here, http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=17819.0
My rig is on my sig. Feel free to help me.

what I find strange, is that there's always tons of bugs to crush due to enormous combination of hardware that exists on Windows ecosystems. There is always bugs to crush, always bios to release!! Stop only 6 months after releasing a mobo is signal to understand the end of support, at least unofficially

I have Asus board and it will not come out hibernation/sleep. It isn't always the board that is causing the problem. It is the video card. Plus now if you all good to go with the F20b. So when they come out with the F20 and they will don't update to it.
