boot problem

boot problem

hello i am new to the gigabyte forums and i have a boot broblen with Gigabyte GA-8I915P Dual Graphics Motherboard
it starts but when it goes  to the loading screen it automatically restarts..PLZ HELP ME

my specs are:

Intel Pentium 4 3GHz with Hyperthreading
1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 (2x 512MB)
nVIDIA geforce gt220 1 gb PCI-E Video Card
Gigabyte GA-8I915P Dual Graphics Motherboard
Zalman CU7700 Heatsink

Right the first question I need answering is what PSU are you using?
Secondly what revision board is it?

On the bottom left of the board it will have "Rev:1.0" or similar printed on it. Near the PCI slots.

It could well be the PSU is going downhill fast. It would give the type of symptom that you are experiencing. The second thing that it could be is the memory. Try testing the RAM with Memtest86 just one stick at a time. Let it run for at least half a dozen loops.

the computer starts but when it reaches  it restarts.



BTW i just hooked up a random hard drive from my friends computer

That is probably your problem. It most likely has an old setup of Windows on it that is conflicting with your present Windows installation. Remove the drive  and see if your problem disappears. Please post back and let me know.

i took off the hard drive and it says disk boot fail enter disk and press enter

You need more RAM. When you get more, format that drive and reload your OS and drivers and see how you go.

I think we need a little more information here. You have given your specs but not what you hvae been up to prior to the problem, a bit of history might be helpfull. Also what version of Windows are you trying to run? Is it a fresh installation? etc

it was already installed on the hard  drive

Yes but which hard drive are we talking about. You just said about installing one from a friends machine.
