hmm

they just released a patch for starcraft 2, and guess what

i didnt get any problems so far, now it may be just a coincidence.
but i played for 2 hours without any flickering or anything

i tried cod4 again and after 10min, it froze

so i tried other games like BLUR, and an nvidia demo game,
no problems at all

i guess its just a cod4 problem, so i will just search the net if anyone got a fix, but all i found didnt do it
will report back and hopefully i wont get the problems back in SC2.

the HD is a sata3, so its plugged in a white sata3 slot
yes the revodrive is in bottom slot, everything is stock i didnt touched any settings

thanx for your help guyz, really appreciate this

should i flash to latest bios ?
i tried everything except this.

in this case, is there a link with a well explained step by step how to flash new bios somewhere ?
i fried an old asus mobo trying to do this years ago, so this is scaring me a lil.

Firstly the Firmware is like the card's BIOS not the drivers so it might help to make sure that you have the latest one.
Secondly I am sure it would help to have the latest BIOS in other areas as well. We have details of how to do it in our FAQ section.

http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2441.0.html

Make sure that you remove any overclock first and then just follow the instructions. Only use QFlash not @BIOS as it is more reliable that trying through the OS. Clear the DMI whilst you are there. Then clear the CMOS and load optimised defaults for the new BIOS. When you have flashed it post back.

We are here if you need us.

ha , yes i should have thought about this earlier too,

on the pdf of the gigabyte website, they say one shouldnt flash from F5 to F12, but instead from F5 to F8, then F8 to F10, F10 to F12....
is this correct ?
or i can go directly from F5 to F12 ?

Hi there,

It is always better to flash BIOS in smaller steps as it is safer and leads to less problems with the updating process.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Absic is right as usual and it is safer to do it in a couple of steps. I would just say two would be enough but it is your choice.

i did F5 to F6 to F8 to F10 to F12
but still got the same problems

now i checked the onboard leds,
and when im booting, i see the MD and GD leds green for the 2 on top and yellow for the 2 above, thats for cpu and memory i think.
when i check with cpu-z and cpuid i get these results:

now note the Core voltage aand Core speed,
at star they way higher than this, in fact i got like 1.2v or something and 3280MHz core speed
then after a few seconds/minutes it goes down to these 0.9v and 1230 MHz, is this normal for an i7 870 ?

here is the CPUID results:

I think you will just find that it is the EIST(speedstep) kicking in and dropping the speed down. If you apply a load to the processor I am sure it would pick up again. On my 1366 board all the leds come on(it's like a christmas tree) when I boot but then go out as it progresses.
