Well I would connect up the buzzer and the on/off switch but apart from that only the power cables need to be connected.

Well you said you had no cables attached to the motherboard. No now I understand after reading your post again. We were at cross purposes.

The ports you are trying to connect to are the ones on the back of the computer, yes?

Well, the power cable is connected to the power supply and my DVI cable connected to my graphics card.

Then the audio cable is connected to the motherboard as is my Sata harddrive.

Well, there are usb 4 ports on the back and 2 in the front and I have tried them all and none of them is working

Well the front ones do need a cable connection to the motherboard but the back ones are hardwired to the board so no problem there. I would think that there is a problem with the motherboard from what you have described so I think you will have to RMA it. $:-\$

It is just weird that it is only the usb ports that are not working as my regular headphones work both from the front and the back.

Both the usb in the front and back isn't working. I can understand if either the front ones didn't work or the ones in the back, but both...

That is why I say it is the motherboard. The headphones are connected to a different chip and part of the board from the USB sockets. It is possible that the USB controller is faulty.

So the USB controllers are the same both for the ports in the front and at the back?

Yes. The USB is controlled by the same chip.

Yes, of course my harddrive and my cd-rom turn up

it is just the stupid usb memory stick that light up its abcence. :/
