GA-X58A-UD3R network problem

As per reply #61 and #62, I replaced my keyboard and mouse with a Microsoft product.  The keyboard, mouse, and internet adapter problem still occured about every three or four days.  My Mobo is only about two months old and the bios is FE.  About 15 days ago I booted up and IE would not work and the date was set to March of 2009.  I removed the KTS lithium MOBO battery and replaced it with a new Duracell Cr2032.  To this date, I have not had another mouse, keyboard, or internet adapter problem.  Could the MOBO batteries be defective and causing these problems?

I expect the problem was due to the motherboard battery failing and the BIOS losing the settings and so reverting to the most basic default settings instead. It can cause all sorts of funny problems at times.

I have the exact same problems as described by others above. Only after Goose0106 advised changing the battery the topic went dead.. So my question is; is your problem solved after changing the battery? @Vorticals, @HonzaK, etc cause then i know what to do

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

For the price of a CR2032 battery it is worth replacing it just to see. At least you know the battery is new then also.

I will give it a go tomorrow, because the shops are closed today because of Easter Holiday. I will be testing it for a few days and then i will get back at this topic. But to be honest i find it quit disturbing that a "quality" motherboard of more then 200euro potentionally has problems caused by Gigabyte use of inferior batteries

The batteries are not in general inferior just because you get a few faulty items. As with anything a certain percentage will fail and we haven't determined that it is that at fault yet.

The battery current was quite low, so replacing it wasn't a bad thing.. (shame on you Gigabyte!)

But i got some bad news for you guys, replacing it doesn't make any difference in the frequency of problems (failing USB controllers, failing LAN connections and BSOD's).

But this issue really starts to annoy me.. because everytime i have to kill the power by unplugging my powercable (only way to fix this bugs or else you get in a endless BSOD loop) I risk damaging my harddrives and to loose more data! My expensive 10.000rpm Western Digital Raptor already died because of the sudden power shutdowns.
I hope that Gigabyte will fix the problem soon, because without a network connection i cant work (cloud based services) and like i said everytime i kill the power i risk loosing/corrupting my valuable data files.

B.t.w. after I replaced the battery, I get a new variation on the same problem; I also loose connection to 2 of my harddrive and other USB host controllers seem to fail now, next to the failing LAN connection. See added screenshots..

After trying almost all possible things I realized to disable the NIC in BIOS and use another PCI Ethernet card instead. Since that, no problems detected (I use this solution for about 2 months). But god knows where are the roots of the original problem...
But the solution with using another Ethernet card (and disabling the original integrated one in BIOS of course) also isnt very expnesive.

Well thanks very much for giving us the heads up on this problem. As you said it isn't an expensive fix but it shouldn't be necessary really.

I sure wish I had read this stuff 2 weeks ago before I bought this motherboard (rev 2). I have had nothing but problems with it like others from usb ports not working, unable to boot when using AHCI mode for my 2 SATA hard drives and now that I finally was able to get Windows 7 installed (took days when it should have taken an hour) I have no network adapter.

I am hoping I can replace this lame MB. I cannot believe all the problems and no real fixes to any of them from Gigabyte. How I regret buying this thing.

I can understand your point of view but bad components can happen anywhere and it would seem that you have a bad board. I would advise RMAing it for a replacement as I don't think the board would be reapirable with all those different faults.

I have the rev 2 board and I have the same issue - works fine for a few days then suddenly no network connection.  I have to power down, remove power plug, turn on the computer and then put the power plug back in again in order to get the thing to work.

I've had this for months - was hoping the latest bios reflash would sort it but no - had it again today.  Very annoying.

What can I do about this please, Gigabyte?

Well, after trying to adjust almost everything in the bios, it seems that I managed to solve the problem of network.
Here my solution: Go to Power Management Setup in Bios, then ENABLE the ErP Support.

That worked for me until now. (changed 3 weeks ago)

Not sure it solves usb problem, but worth a try!

I think it is probably time to bite the bullet and see your retailer for an RMA.
