Ga-P35 DSR3 Bios Update without loosing Raid

Hello there!

I would like to upgrade my motherboard BIOS without loosing the Raid configuration after I have upgraded it.

Can anyone tell me the right procedure? I have four disks in Raid 10 configuration.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I am in no way a RAID specialist but I do know that what you want to do is not a problem. Basically what is involved is doing the BIOS update and then before booting back into the OS you must reset your RAID. If you don't then you will break your RAID and it will be much harder or maybe even impossible to repair it.

I am sure that one of the RAID supremos will be on to help you out shortly.

thanks and sorry for not having introduced myself to the forum!

The fact is that I already did an upgrade about one year and half ago and lose the Raid configuration... i would like to avoid the same now.
I would like to upgrade the CPU and so I need to update the BIOS.

What do you mean by RESET the Raid?

I am not sure if you have to do a complete rebuild or just put in the details again but it is possible without losing all your data.

Yes, you will be fine!

You must have forgot to enable RAID before loading windows when it messed up on you previously.

Do it in this order and you will be fine.

1. Flash BIOS with Qflash
2. Exit Qflash, Immediately enter the BIOS after reboot.
3. Load Optimized Defaults, save/apply/reboot F10 (BACK TO BIOS)
4. Enter the BIOS immediately after the above reboot, now enable RAID and save/apply/reboot (BACK TO BIOS).
5. Last time in the BIOS, this time go into advanced page and then into hard disk boot priority, move your array to the top of that list if it is your OS.
6. Save/apply/reboot F10
6. Load windows
