GA-P67A-UD3R issue

hi i'm new to this forums
and i am a fan of Gigabyte brand have been using Gigabyte brand since 945P/P35/P45 and now latest P67

now i'm using the latest Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3R, i having alot of problem like Bluescreen/auto restart/Main bios error recover from back up bios

but sometimes it work fine!

i tested other Graphic card like HD 6870 still having the same problem

when i test on Kingston 2Gb DDR3 1333mhz, my system run very smooth for 1weeks without any problem.

as for ram i using G.Skill RIPJAWS-X CL7 DDR3-1600 16GB 1.6v, in bios i set XMP enable and i even try set the voltage to 1.6

i have run alot stress test like 3DMark Vantage/Heaven Benchmark v2.1/CINEBENCH without any error or restart
i have run hard disk check no error
but unable to run ram test, it's always stuck at 3-5% then hang

is it the board spoil? since sometimes auto restart it show me bios error and recover from backup bios

i have been DIY all my computer

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I can see two items there that could be causing your problems.

Firstly your PSU is underpowered for the system as the motherboard is advised as needing a 550W power supply and that is without your 580 graphics card.

Secondly the motherboard should be using 1.5v memory not 1.6v. Why did you change the Kingston RAM for the G-Skills if they were running stably ?

A: I got a watts meter to check my computer fully load not even hitting 300watts

A: As for kingston i took out from my another AMD setup to test.
for G-Skills official web site it show that Qualified Motherboards List: GA-P67A-UD3R
and i saw on the ram sticky it write 1.6v

before i upgraded mainboard,cpu and ram,  i was using a GA-EP45-UD3P with 8gb DDR2 kingston ram and 580/HD6870 without a problem

First -  RAM.
Have you checked that XMP is setting up the RAM right.
According to website - should be 7-8-7-24-2N
Maybe something getting set wrong.

However - I'd agree with DM - your PSU isn't the best
Wattage isn't always the best way to look at your Power supply - but gives an indicator..

Key here is what are the individual voltage rails capable of delivering.
Found it hard to track down your PSU rating specs - but eventually found this

First off it has 3 +12V Rails. You need +12V for your Grfx, fans, Harddisks, and optical drives. (memory and others via the ATX-12V connector)
Each of the 12V rails are for 18A. Your Grfx card takes 2 - so 36A from 2 of the ports.
However look at the manual for your Grfx card I see this "Minimum 600 Watt or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 42A) is recommended."
This suggests to me that your PSU is borderline as the GPU is going to steal that additional 6A from somewhere.
Would recommend looking for something with 22A per 12V Rail if you go looking.
(You wouldn't have seen this with an ATI 6870 or 5870 as they are ok with 18A)

My suspicion is your drawing too much to the GPU periodically which is pulling from the 12V rail to the 8pin ATX12V connector on the board and thus pulling power away from components like your memory.

In short - get a new PSU.

i very new to those setting timing for ram in bios.

sorry just for an update

i tested place my ram on AMD set up

MSI 890GXM-G65/AMD Phenom II X4 550BE 3.6Ghz/WD250/HD4290/Win 7 64bits SP1

using on board graphic

i getting same problem as my intel setup, bluescreen and hang

i even try run memory test still hang at 3-5%

could it be ram problem?

could very well be the RAM - does the other system support 1.6V RAM?
Have your tried memtest+ and just checking each DIMM?

The CPU-Z captures are strange.
The SPD settings are right, but the memory setting reported by BIOS is way off.

As for PSU - 6870 still ok on 2x 18A. You need to go to something like X2 cards, or 6970 before it would become an issue. NVidia typically draws down a lot more than ATI.

The problem being that the memory might just be incompatible with the AMD board so in effect it doesn't prove anything. It would certainly want more looking at though.

and i using Memtest86 3.5a to run test it hang at 3-5%

so is it the ram spoil or the timing problem that i need to set?

Well I would doubt that the memory is compatible with both the P67 and the AMD boards.

The Memtest you are using is an old version and you need this one for the Sandy Bridge chip boards.

After you have thoroughly tested the RAM we can look at the timings of the memory and see if they are set properly.

it's seem like the ram timing weird.. if i change ram timing will it fix?

Give it a thorough test at default(auto) settings and see if you get any errors. Do a 10 loop test on each module.

Once you are 100% sure that the memory is ok we can look at getting the rated speed if possible.
