« on: March 06, 2011, 06:41:44 pm »
Hey I just recently flashed the latest F7B bios and I seem to have sound issues ( I am using the onboard Realtek audio chip ) . Uhhh are there any other cases of such a problem ?
Thx and I wait your answear if I should go back to F6 . Cheers

If you had no real reason for needing to update your BIOS then I would suggest reverting to F6.

Hi there,

not seen any other posts about audio problems on this board with BIOS version F7B but that doesn't mean anything. Can you give us some idea as to what the actual problem is as your post is a little vague.

If your system was working fine with the F6 BIOS then there is no reason why you can't re-flash back to that version. This could confirm your suspicion that there is a fault with the BIOS.

However, before you do that double check that you are running the latest drivers for your system as updated drivers were released last month.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

ok I am sorry about my initial post being vague .
Ok so I had strange issues in Crysis 2 and I don't really play that many games on my pc : Only daw on of war 2 and very rarely other SP games . Also I did get strange BSODS with the F6  , not ingame but when exiting dow 2 and other apps :P ( never in-game whilst playing ) . So i searched for a new bios and I found F7B .
Now I am not sure if it is the bios's fault or if somehow I did something wrong in applying the new audio drivers . Before I updated Bios I uninstalled audio drivers and then downloaded the latest drivers from realtek . I saw it did not work , I reinstalled the drivers from the CD I got with the mobo . These don't work either .
And what I mean by not working : Drivers install successfully , it also shows the drivers and Speaker icon in the taskbar that it works properly but there is no sound coming out of my headphones ....
 I am running a 4870 1gb HIS ATI vcard , 4 gig Mushkin on EPP mode 1066 mhz , X2 550 CPU ( no oc-ing applied ) , Windows 7 SP1 X64 .

So , any of you have any solutions for this before I reflash F6 ? Not to be a douche , but I don't want to flash and reflash , without having any results . For all I know it might actually be a pure software issue , non-BIOS related .

The HD 4870 ATI vcard also contains a HDMI sound device. You need to Manage your Sound Devices in the Windows 7 CONTROL PANEL.

That was probably where you went wrong. By uninstalling the drivers you probably made the HD audio on the graphics card the primary output but reinstalling the drivers doesn't enable it again. First download and install the latest drivers for your sound chip and then as Tiger suggested reconfigure your output in the Control Panel.

Lol , bros , if I was that green I wouldn't be minding with flashing bioses and even installing drivers for that matter . I know of the Ati HDMI audio and my primary source is the realtek audio .
Either way I will uninstall ATI drivers completely and the audio once , drive sweep them and then install Audio drivers first and see if it has any results .

Ok fixed :) . It wasn't software and it wasn't bios related :) . It was actually something that never happened and I frequently tend to change audio drivers ....
All I did was unplug headset , driver then detected that I had no more devices plugged into my sound card and replugged it , thus letting me choose from a variety of devices ( in my case headphones ) . Awkwwaaaaard ..... :D

It is amazing just how ridiculously difficult some of the software has become for audio, especially the Realtek stuff.  :o

Well at least it is sorted out! As absic said some of this software is too clever for it's own  good.....or ours!
