As the Subject,

I have a X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty PCIe x1. And Have it plugged into the Bottom PCIe x16 slot, and its not being detected.

It should work. Anyone have any thoughts?

No, agreed that in theory it should work but for some reason a few people have reported that they could only get their sound cards to work in the top PCEI x1 slot.

What other cards have you got installed ?

How rubbish... :(

All I have is one Nvidia GTX 460 in the Top PCI-e16 slot.

I really don't want to have to use the PCI-e x1 slot as I would need to remove the Passive Cooler.... and to do that would mean I need to remove the CPU cooler.

:(

Actually there are two PCIE x1 slots but you would need to move the GPU down to the next PCIE x16 slot.

Indeed there are two... from what I can see the Passive Cooler Plugs into the top one, and the bottom one is left exposed.
Thou even if i did move the GPU down the Passive cooler would still be blocking the needed space to fit the sound card :(

I have the exact same board and I have just looked and reckon that the second PCIE x1 slot would be clear enough of the cooler to use if it is a short card.

By the way the cooler doesn't plug into any of the slots but it does cover the top one.

Aha! yes, It might just fit.

The only issues I have in moving the GPU down I will have to re-do all the Cabling inc HDD power (Stiff PSU Cables and short case) :( Which is going to be a big job (for me).

I'm going to try and return the card. If not then I'll guess i'll have to bite the bullet.

All I wanted was Optical out :( Shame the PCIe8x slots don't work ..

For the GPU I think you could use the x8 slot as they don't  use the full bandwidth and you would be able to move the card without changing the wiring at all.

You would think ;),

With the amount of disks and things in my case there isn't much room.

We'll see what happens.

And cheers for the help, If all goes well, lets hope I don't see a reduce in performance from 16 to 8 :(

A single graphics card shouldn't need any more than x8 bus width and besides it will at least prove whether the sound card will work in that slot.

RatsAss

My board has 2 x16 and 2 x8 lanes

I have my X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty  card in the 2nd x8 slot and it works fine.

2 x16 lanes are occupied.

It cuts the 2nd x16 lane to x8 but no big deal.

Thanks for your post Ripjaws!

I have a quick question:

Can you tell me which drivers and OS you are using.  I have the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series [I actually have 3 of them, one with the front panel] but when I read all the posts about people being angry about the driver problem, I was afraid to open the boxes.

Can you let me know how you got it to work?

Also, are you using the front panel too?

Thanks,

Soar

PS I was actually thinking of picking up another version this weekend [Fry's has them on sale in-store for $60 and online for $109 instead of $199] for resale purposes.  I will drive to Fry's tomorrow.

The exact version is found here: http://www.frys.com/product/5665331

Can you help me understand how to make this work on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit?

Thanks,

Soar

Well I tried it in both the 8x lanes, the X-fi LED lights up, but nothing is detected in windows.
Lets Pray for the RMA ;)

In theory the PCIE x1 card should work ion any PCIE slot regardless of bandwidth of the slot. :-\
