GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard: Rev. 1.0 - S.M.A.R.T. Sandforce fix = F11D Beta BIOS?

Hi All,

I've got a OCZ Vertex 2 80GB that while it was working I was getting "S.M.A.R.T. failed" notices during boot up. As long as I saw that message on the boot screen it would still bring up Windows 7 and the computer would operate fine.  If I DID NOT see that fail notice (like S.M.A.R.T. initialized properly which was about 10% of the time) the bootup would hang and I got a "failed to load operating system" at the end.

Anyways, that was while it was working. The system totally took a crap about 3 months ago and I'm finally getting around to attempt to get it running again.  I am posting to the OCZ forums regarding getting my SSD updated and working again but in doing so I  understand that Gigabyte has a BETA BIOS F11d release that should fix my S.M.A.R.T. errors during boot up.

Even though the OCZ forum has the links to the F11d BIOS download I still have sveral questions I wanted to post here:

1. The OCZ forum was a bit vague on whether the BETA F11d BIOS update was for my Revision 1.0 Board and I'd like it confirmed here

2. I was wondering why Gigabyte hasn't made a F11 BIOS update on their GA-EP45-UD3P rev. 1.0 Downloads page by now since it's been almost a year since the BETA version came out.

3. Is there an English link to the Beta BIOS update? I think one of the ones I saw was in German so I'm hoping to have an english link to it thru this forum.

4. I'm hoping to gather a bit more info about this problem from the Gigabyte point of view so any extra info posters on this forum have about this S.M.A.R.T./Sandforce conflict would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

Hi

There has been a problem in the past with Gigabyte motherboards and OCZ SSDs. They (OCZ) did a firmware update for them so make sure that you apply that first.

I can't commment on the Beta BIOS as we don't even have it here. I would say check at TweakTown forums in the USA if necessary ask Lsdmeasap for his help.

Failing that try asking GGTS.

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

The BIOS is fine, and I'd highly suggest using it.

Do you need me to relink it for you, not sure what you meant about that on the link.   Doesn't matter where it's hosted, it'll be good to go!  ;D

Better than that, here is one I modified for a user last week, tested and working great (Updated Intel RAID ROM to 10.5.0.916)

Is it possible to get this same bios with new option rom 10.6xxxx?

Thanks!
