P67A-UD3-B3 a drop in replacement for GA-P67A-UD3?
« on: April 19, 2011, 08:27:16 pm »
Under the Sandybridge replacement program, I've ordered a P67A-UD3-B3 to replace my GA-P67A-UD3 which is going back to Scan.co.uk.

I chose this motherboard as it's allegedy a direct replacement for the old one. I'm expecting the changeover to only take a few minutes, it's a simple swap.

Or is it? Is there anything I should know or be aware of?

What BIOS can I expect on the B3? I'm hoping it's a fairly late version so my 2600k will work straight off.

Hi

I wouldn't envisage any problems at all as the board is to alll intents and purposes the same  as your old one. The BIOS will be pretty much up to date and should run your CPU straight out of the box.

It did run the CPU straight away. It shipped with F2, but I went straight to the latest, F3 just because I could. :)

Good news and just as I thought. Just as well to update the BIOS as it is available. Once you are sure you are happy with it you can synchronise the Backup BIOS to match.
