Hi Guys,

I've done some further tests and it appears that it may not be the memory after all. Yesterday the same symptom, with the memory at 1333.

I thought it might be the overcloking but it did it at stock speed and all the way to 4.5ghz.

I am wondering could it be the PSU?

Sigh!..........this is why it's important for all information to be put on the table when posting a problem........even my Crystal ball craps out at over 400 miles.....mind you , excellent your getting somewhere

What PSU ?...what Wattage ? how old is it ?.... Keep in mind what DM said about ..."I think it's a BIOS issue".... are you running the latest Bios update (non-Beta) and have you tried Backing up your BIOS and rolling it back to the one before and retest ?

PSU is Antec NeoHE 550Watts, bought mid 2007, this is high efficient version, 88% half load, rest of the the stuff are in my sig.

I flashed the BIOS with the latest version, F6....thats the only one on the website, unfortunately I did not back it up.
Would the 2nd BIOS have been flashed as well or can I rollback somehow?

What I noticed this time is that the pci tv card had disappeard and little speaker does not beep. Got the tv card back by re-inserting it but beep is not working, I think I have to short the cmos pins to get that going.

Might be still in download if you went this route.........either way, move on.

If anything is not clear, ask for more detail, ... turn off power, unplug and short pins of BIOS, reboot and Bios again, load optimized default, save and boot........go back into BIOS and load all your setting for your system......save and try and reboot back into windows per normal and see if things are better....post results of what's changed if at all.

AA,  I did as you suggested, the single beep came back. I am going to run with the default settings and see how it behaves.

But more twist to his upgrade, i just noticed that in the bios the turo boost is at 3.4ghz, when i run prime95 it only goes up to 3.41Ghz. I checked the spec on intel site for 2500k, the turbo should be 3.7ghz.....damn i wish i kept a backup of the old bios... so as DM pointed out BIOS.

yep, triec that, highest it goes it 3.4.
I noticed in the bios the auto detected c1-37, c2-36, c3-35, c4-34, so i guess with all 4 cores going 3.4 is the max?

If you want to flash back to the Backup BIOS then folow these instructions. It might take a few tries to get ti right though.

You can kick in the backup BIOS by shutting down the PSU from the wall, then hold down your case power button in and then turn on the power supply button, a few seconds later the board will start, shut off the power supply then.   Then you can turn on the power supply again and power up the board normally and DualBIOS will kick in.

I do have one gripe with this new Gigabyte board, that is the rear I/O shield. It is so flimsy and the little prongs dont even touch the ports and the slots do not properly align, leaving gaps and the bit that goes between the port is not even metal, just the decorative plastic.

Hi,
stumbled upon this post while doing a Google search. I'm building a new pc, HAF 922 casing and Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3b mobo. The I/O shield doesn't align properly with the mobo slots, it's only slightly off center (1 millimeter to the left) so i can still plug everything in but it still bugs me a little. Checked the casing and mobo for warps but both seem to be competely true, standoffs are all standard height, mobo holes align perfectly. I'm wondering if this with the I/O shield is a common issue or just my bad luck.

Sorry, haven't made myself clear, I'm in the situation where I should file off a millimeter off the standoffs, or find shorter ones, if they're available at all.  :)

Hi

I too have the HAF 932 case and although I haven't got the Z68 motherboard in it my UD7 fits fine.  Firstly I would suggest that you re-examine all the fittings and make user that there is no user error involved. If not then as you mentioned earlier find some shorter posts.
