MA770T-UD3 rev.1

I recently purchased an ASUS HD6950 Direct CU II GPU and installed to find poor performance increase if any at all?

After all sorts of driver, mobo BIOS and Chip set driver updates i still can not figure out what the problem is?

I removed the ASUS card and fitted my old Sapphire 6870 and the 3DMark Vantage scores are not much different and it is still running at x1?

Would the x1 issue explain the minimal improvement?

Is there anything i have not covered?

The only thing i can think of is that the PCI slot has taked a beating from heavy GPU's?

Any help at all would be very much appreciated :)

Hi there,

Yes, if the PCI-E x16 slot is only running at X1 speed, that would be the reason for the lack of improvement when changing the GPU.

You say you have updated BIOS but are you running the F10 version which might address this issue? If not you can download it from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3243#bios and I would recommend that you use the QFlash utility for updating rather than the @BIOS software.

Hi!

YEs i am using the F10 BIOS at the moment. Originally i flashed it using @bios i had a huge problem with windows not loading due to what it thought was a hardware chage.

I eventually loaded windows from an old hdd i had laying around a reflashed it using @bios again and i got the original hdd to boot again.

I don't really know what else to do?

Does this problem sound as if it could have been caused by damage to the PCI slot?

Has the PCI-E x16 slot always run at x1 or did it use to run at X16?
What are your FULL system specs?

If the PCI-E X16 slot was damaged I would expect it to not work at all rather than to run at only x1 speed.
