GA-EP41-UD3L

Hi, i have just had a new build with EP41-UD3L motherboard, running Vista 32 bit, Soundblaster Extreme Gamer Sound card, Nvidia 8800 GTX video Card, 4 GB Kingston RAM, 2 x Sata DVD, 1 x Seagate 500 GB HD and 1 x Seagate 750 GB HD.  Intel Q8200 Quad core processor.

Problem is very random, i turn on the computer, stays on for upto 45 mins to and hour, then goes dead, no warning nothing. Case switch does nothing when pushed to turn back on.  I then pull the power cable out leave 2 mins, put back in and power up, all working fine no shut down, no problem, in fact on last night after second boot up for 8 hours constant.

Am pulling my hair out with this, anyone have any advice ?  >:(

thanks

Ahh these ones are so hard to diagnose. First off, have you overclocked at all? Are you using latest BIOS + drivers etc? Is anything overheating? (make sure CPU heatsink is seated properly.)

Try running it with bare essentials: 1 stick of RAM, onboard graphics (looks like your motherboard has onboard?), operating system HDD, heatink/fan + CPU and nothing else. Then just have keyboard, mouse, power and monitor plugged in.

Also what PSU are you using?

Hi mate,  Mobo has not been Overclocked at all, latest Bios installed on weekend hoping it would sort the problem out. CP heatsink attached properly. Have pulled out and used 1 RAM, using Nvidia 8800 GTX Graphics card. My PSU is a brand new 1100 Watter from ebuyer, 4 weeks old. Are you mystified.... ? If it were any of the suggestions why does it run ok on second boot up. even ran a CPU temp program and nothing untowards on the log.

Help.......

Try running with the bare minimum

Make sure has latest drivers also

You've tried only plugging the bare minimum in? If you've done everything ive said it could well be a faulty motherboard  ???

Downloaded Core Temp and checked CPU temps?

Downloaded Mem-test and checked RAM?

Checked all connecting cables for potential shorts? (we have a DVD drive causing it once - dodgey SATA connecter)

It's not uncommon for PSU's to have a dodgey rail, even if brand new. Some brands are worse than others. Only way to test is with another PSU.

Chance it might even be a dodgey CPU

ok here we go, tried bare minimums and still same problem, went off after 1 and half hours. , CPU reading between 32 and 36 degree idle, 52 and 56 on load, just downloaded and ran memtest no errors whatsoever.

I took the whole PC apart last night and rebuilt, checked all connections for anything loose. I also have spare cabling i will try. I have been in touch with ebuyer today, they are going to send me a replacement PSU just in case, and have ordered a new heatsink to replace my Intel one again just in case. I know this can take a while and needs to be done in a certain order but frustrating as hell. Tomorrow i am going to simply boot the computer, do an instant restart then see what happens. Any more advise welcome.
