GIGABYTE

Hi im at my ends wits with this motherboard please help!!!
I have attached the pictures of the bios, everything is set to basic settings (auto)
I am currently wanting to push the ram to run @ 1066
and push the cpu to 2.8ghz but my problem is the settings dont make sense to me as they are all over the place. The ram setting in the timings are set to standard
I am using 4x2gb of kingston hyperX pc2 8500 running @ 800mhz and should be running @ 1066
The cpu wont push to anything more than set at 2.4ghz
Windows Home Premium 64bit
GA EP45 DS3 rev1.0
Winpower modular 729watts psu
Intel quad core q6600 go stepping 2.4ghz x9 multiplier
Nvidia gtx550ti @ 970mhz 1gb
Kingston pc28500 ddrII hyperX @ 1066 -- settings 5-5-5-15 @ 2.3v
1x western digital green caviar sata 300gbps master
1x western digital blue caviar sata 300gbps slave
1xdvdrw optiarc master
1x dvdrw phillips spd6000 slave
1x multi card reader + usb port
1x asus dg 5.1 pci sound card
1x d-link pci dwa 547 wireless card
1x samsung floppy disk drive
fitted with5 internal fans

BIOS version F10B

I have messed with the settings before but nothing seems to set,The voltage on the ram is set at 1.8v auto but when i try to up the voltage it goes into the red. and crashes, I will include the manual to see if there really is a gigabyte guru here as i have tried for months to find someone who knows what there are saying or doing, The reason for overclocking is that this machine is sluggish-slow and know it can run alot faster,
ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I think you might have made an error on the model number for your motherboard, so perhaps you could check and re post it here. Also list what revision the board is please.

You have filled all of the memory banks up with modules and you are still trying to run them on Auto settings in the BIOS. This in general won't work happily as they require more power to compensate for the extra loading on the memory controller. You will need to increase the Northbridge voltage a little.

I am 100% sure this is the correct model all settings are set to standard {auto}
The board revision is 1.0
The screenshots are just for illustration of the actual bios  the settings you see are not the same as mine, i have wrote down every last detail of the bios as i have not got a camera to upload actual screenshots.
Also for some reason the ram slots work in 1-3 mode 2-4 mode but when inserting all 4 it wont accept the 4th slot so only reads 6gb of ram.
I find this very puzzling
Based on amd architecture with intel processor.

Hi also while having problems setting this motherboard up correctly i was wondering since this motherboard has no support for a raid solution or even support by intels rapid storage, could someone help me in finding a pci-e raid controller card with 0,1,5,10 for sata II that is also backward compatible.

Hi there

can you confirm this is your motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2842&dl=1#sp

If it is then you do have the capabilities for RAID
Quote
Support for SATA RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10

Or is it this card:

http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2843&dl=1#ov

as this doesn't have the RAID option as you mentioned.

Unfortunately when buying my motherboard i assumed it would support raid but does not - GA EP45 DS3 rev1.0

Also this motherboard has no function for onboard sound to be disabled or enabled just an option for azalia codec to be enabled or disabled.

The Azalia codec is the onboard sound chip.

Could i ask for your help with settings?
It seems you know more about these motherboards, I only want to correct all the settings to ensure its running correctly, and as for overclocking i would only want to push this to either 2.8ghz or 3.0ghz and have tried other peoples settings only to find it  crashes and have to re-install everything.

I HAVE MANAGED TO CRACK IT! I have pushed it to 3.ghz simply raising the voltage for ram and cpu also the multiplier to 352 and pcie host to 102 = giving me 1400 fsb..cant wait for it to blow up ^^

Well done! I am glad that you have managed to crack it yourself as that is the only way to learn. You will have gained a lot more knowledge from that than if someone just told you what settings to try and the great feeling that you have done it on your own. ;)
