GIGABYTE ASSASSIN G1 KILLER MOTHERBOARD. WONT WAKE FROM SLEEP MODE
« on: September 02, 2011, 12:37:18 pm »
Hi.  People..  I'm new here and never really don't bother joining forums but I had to join this one as i'm tearing my hair out trying to find out why my computer monitor wont waken from sleep mode..  As it had no problem waking from sleep mode before I upgraded, and swapped everything out for new..

I recently upgraded my whole computer to the following:

GIGABYTER ASSASSIN G1 KILLER MOTHERBOARD. X58 CHIPSET.
INTEL 990X EXTREME PROCESSOR
SILVERSTONE 1500 WATT POWER SUPPLY
NOCTUA D14 CPU COOLER
GAINWARD 580 PHANTOM 3 GRAPHICS CARD
CRUCUAL 12Gb DDR 3 RAM
 Module Size: 12GB kit (4GBx3)
Package: Ballistix 240-pin DIMM
Feature: DDR3 PC3-12800
Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • 10

WESTERN DIGITAL 1Tb MAIN DRIVE BLACK EDITION 7200 - 64Mb SATA

WESTERN DIGITAL GREEN 3Tb BACKUP DRIVE SATA

SEGATE 750Gb system restore backup DRIVE. SATA

LG BLURAY recorder and  writer sata interface

Liteon RECORDER AND WRITER  sata interface

I have all this housed in the LIANLI P80 FULL TOWER COMPUTER CASE, oh and my monitor is the Dell 3008WFP MONITOR

The power supply is plugged into the wall socket all on it's own and the rest of my components are connected by their own separate wall plugs IE Printers and scanners.

I have not overclocked anything on my system, everything is at stock settings.. I UPDATED THE CHIPSET AND DRIVERS GRAPHICS AND MOTHERBOARD.

When I put my computer to sleep or if I leave it and it goes to sleep when I come back and move the mouse or tap the keyboard, the fans on my computer whirr up hard drive whirrs up graphics card turns on and all my dvd drives start as well.  Basically everything turns on except my monitor, I have read every single piece of information on the net to try and rectify why my computer screen wont switch on from sleep..

My computer screen just sits in a dormant state, even the wee orange led light wont turn blue to denote waking up all I do is switch off from the wall plug and turn back on then it resumes woindows, in A much slower state until it sorts itself out, but I shouldn't have to do that, as it is so inconvenient..

Please if anyone on here has the same problem as me please can you reply with A solutiuon.

Many thanks in advance and thank you for your time and help, it is appreciated.

Respectfully

 ???

Hi and welcome.

The normal reason for the system not recovering after sleep is because it is not 100% stable. It could be software but is more likely a hardware problem. Make sure that all the BIOS settings are correct for your computer hardware as that is often where the issue starts.

You may have to do a clear "CMOS" and see if that gets you out of sleep mode. Maybe even pull battery and unplug power for 30 min.

After clearing CMOS, if it you can go back into bios and select reload defaults and then save and restart comp and see what happens.

I believe there was another poster was having similar issues with his G1 Sniper don't know if it ever got resolved.

The thing is dannydag1 curing the immediate problem is not difficult but the hard bit is getting it sorted so that it doesn't happen again. ;)

My computer setup is stable the motherboard and graphics card are both %100 I would say it would have to do with the bios setup somehow myself..  So maybe do what dannydag1, suggested..   Thanks

You say your computer is 100% stable but can you be certain ? Can you run Prime95 and Furmark both together for 24/7 ? or even LINX or some other stress test programs. Have you tried running Memtest86+ fully on single modules for at least 10 loops each ?

Dear Dark Mantis.

I don't find you are very helpful at all, your replies are generic and as bout as helpful as an ash tray on a motorbike..  I have tried everything that's why i'm here trying to get some useful information or a fix that maybe another member has experienced witht this motherboard..  It has something to do with the USB 3 Drivers and you just blurted out something which was totally of track and irrelevant to my particular problem.  Maybe if you actually reseracherd  and fact find a solutiuon to a particualr problem instead of trying to reply to everyone who writes here building up your credability would maybe suit you better, but your definitely no help on here are you DARK MANTIS.. You naught time waster you.  TUT. TUT. TUT.   ;D

The same thing happened to me with a G1.Sniper and BIOS F3. I've just updated my BIOS to F4b and now it works!

Try to update your BIOS to F5B (the last one for G1.Assassin motherboard)

Well I am so sorry that I don't meet with your approval and obviously I should not try to help anyone else on this forum then. Really gutted! :'( :'( :'(

If you know my suggestion is not on the right lines why are you asking for help when you obviously know so much ?

Dark I don't question your knowledge or believe I know a half of what you know and I believe you know your s@#$ other wise you would not be a moderator.

The fact is  Dark your post have been very condescending and  I see know reason for the gang up fest for a person that is just looking for answers.

I have just quoted my post above and can't see any way in which it could be misinterpreted as condesending at all. Merely trying to point out that OB1 may have considered his system to be stable but it might well not be and these are ways to make sure.

Sorry if you took it wrongly and no condesention meant I assure you.

Right ..... back to your corners guys ........Bunch of girls!......Hee,hee,hee..... I have the gift of being Australian with all the attitudes where know for!.....especially ...."A Spade Is A Spade"  ......The Advise DM gave was actually Spot-on at the end of the day..........it's his job to play Devils advocate to look to things we may have missed.......even slight system instability will draw out all those little nagging issues, usb hubs going down, programs misbehaving, not waking up when there supposed too

If you don't like the answer to your question..........Don't ask it in the first place ! ... If i had to choose a "condescending post" in this page......it would be OB1s response to DMs Advice.............Do you really think with 12,000 plus posts under his belt he just plucked it out of the air!

I have the same problem at times where I just don't have the time to explain and educate at the same time ... some people insist on having a debate as to why their smoking PSU with a bullet hole through it is fine and it must be sumfing else..............A resource with that much experience at your disposal.........would it not be a good idea to listen and explore a possibility even if it's just for the exercise of ruling out that area?

Dannydog1..........Get your facts right before advising others.......load optimized default..... not  select reload defaults.....This is a Band-aid fix at best as DM tried to point out........so OB1.......did Dannydognuts advice fix the problem long term... ::) :'( ...probably not!

Well this is the painful bit I was talking about earlier re educating people..........it's been said, temperature is the biggest killer of a PC.........well number two is the frequency of temperature in a PC....on,off.on,off,on,off hot, cold, hot, cold work hardens all those little copper tracks all through your PC..........eventually one goes "PING"...... or becomes a thermal switch for a while.......ask any laptop owner that's had his graphics chip reballed

Open power plan and create a "power plan".....sure have your Monitor go off after say 20/30mins....but have your PC "ON" Forever!....power states rarely work perfectly......when your PSU is in a low power state.....what's held in memory is very suseptable to power surges, spikes and brown outs when there's no UPS present....( ;)"Big Tip" ;))

I'm not having a PC I built and payed for telling me when it's going to sleep......It can shut when I tell it too.........I also use "Garbage collection" so I don't want my PC going for a snooze while it's supposed to be doing house keeping.......And that would fix your problem!

OB1 ... this is why you need to be nice to people ...ALL THE TIME! ;)

Taken from a fellow forum member......with full credits of course......

I've discovered a bug in G1.sniper motherboard. It can't resume from suspend (S3 state) using Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits (SP1).
I've identified the cause: it's due to the Renesas USB 3.0. It happens with the drivers in Gigabyte's web (2.0.30.0) and also with the latest drivers from station-drivers (2.1.19.0). Disabling the USB 3.0 in BIOS works (but you lose the 3.0 speed).

On ya jlcb03 from Spain...USB3 Renesas and it's installation is still proving to be a little buggie.....especially if not done by the book
