No LAN connection w GA-Z68XP-UD3

I knew ordering a stand alone LAN card would solve my problem!  It hasn't arrived yet, but after not connecting once yesterday despite a dozen variants of uninstall/reboot/reinstall... today, all is well.  This morning did a "Repair" install of  the Realtek LAN drivers without uninstalling first, rebooted and ta-da!  Several Restarts and Shutdowns later, still working like a champ.  Could this be it?  Hope springs eternal, eh?

DM, I thought about reinstalling again from scratch but given I'd done that three times on two separate motherboards the probability didn't seem high enough to justify the day of reinstallation pain that it would cause, so ordered the LAN card.  $12 seems little enough if it saves a day of effort.  And just maybe I'll get to return it anyway.  :)

Will keep you posted.

Well fingers crossed that it has started working properly now then. I can't see that you did anything to warrant the fix but good luck anyway. Keep us updated please. ;)

Well, after two days of normal usage, the LAN once again doesn't come alive after reboot.  So sadly, it was indeed too good to be true.  Will keep plugging away, and let you know if I learn anything of interest.  Cheers.

I did feel that it was just a flash in the pan so to speak as you had done nothing to make such a repair happen. Never mind though as we all have to rely on some luck.

This post is brought to you via a shiny new TrendNet Gigabyte PCI adapter.  Powered up, disabled on-board LAN in BIOS, and on line in a jiffy.  Now that's more like it!

Not the end result I'd sought but all that's behind now.  Thanks one more time for all the help, Allan and DM.

No problem at all and at least you have a good outcome in the end. Would still have liked to have found the problem though...or rather the fix! ;)
