Will there be a bios update for new AM3+ boards, 880gma-usb3, that support FX CPUs any time soon?

Hi

I would think that it is highly likely but the best thing would be to ask GGTS as they have access to far more information the we do.

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

Hi there,

A similar question was raised a couple of days ago on another socket AM3+ motherboard and I was informed by Gigabyte that although the website(s) have not yet been updated they do indeed support the new Bulldozer FX CPU's
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Yes the will. currently there is only one of MB GA-880GM-USB3 (rev. 3.1) with the bios updated to except the FX CPU
also looking at the CPU support list it only supports FX-4100, FX-6100, FX8100.

On the good side, 99% of the time Gigabyte has most of, if not all, the bugs worked out when new firmware is available. The bad = when......

The comming revisions will be better - what I can say is the fx 6100 runs 11c cooler, at load, than the 955be it replaced. Not any where done with any of our "every day work" testing, so far so good. We shal see what we see ;D

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514, here too.... It's a great board. 8+2 power for an over clock.......

I know less than I knew yesterday about these FX chips. It's been a week, testing Asrock 880g w/710, this board is much smoother - best word I can think of. I like what I see - for cad it will render as fast as anything we have including the i7 920 ( I know it's not a 2600k ) BUT.....

I have a 64bit version of win 8 to fool with - I'm thinking, hoping, there will a little more I can learn.

If you use a 6100, please post your thoughts.

I read a post on gigabyte forum, FX cpu's are more targeted towards win 8 win 7 is twisting the
FX cpu instruction and they are hoping there will be a win 7 update fixing this problem. :o
