Hi All,

Just put together a system based on GA-Z68AP-D3 with a core i5 2500k / 8Gb ram.

Problem
When switched on all fans start and all LEDs come as expected and the disk spins up. However I get no output from the HDMI output to the screen ie not BIOS at all

Questions.

1) The screen I am using is an old LCD screen with which I am using and HDMI to VGA cable .. do old screens work with HDMI to VGA ?
2) What other things can I test / check. I have checked all the connections and they seem fine
3) what items can I remove to check. I assume all disks / dvd etc... what about memory and even processor ?

Hi and welcome.

Firstly make sure all the power cables are attached to the motherboard, that's the 24 pin and the 4 pin 12v ATX near the CPU.

I would suggest first clearing the CMOS and see if that helps. Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

I have reset the CMOS according to the manual (jumper pins)

I now suspect the cable or screen. mainly the screen its a flatron L1715S that I am trying to use from the onboard HDMI port via new HDMI to VGA cable. I now suspect that the screen with not support HD output  from the HDMI port on the motherboard. The screen just has a message about "no signal" all the time.

Does this make any sense ?
