990XA-UD3 Issue with vcore, help

Hello,

well, i´m having a couple of issues. first one is that BIOS (updated to f12) sometimes shows my x6 1075t as having "normal" 1,2750vcore and once or twice it showed the proper 1,42v, thus making impossible to properly overclock. (cpu cool off, everything on manual).

and even if it showed 1,42 everytime, putting it on manual makes no difference, cpu-z, occt, and other software shows me the same thing. the vcore keeps changing from 1,38 to 1,46, even when i do not add anything (tried changing, made no difference whatsoever) to it, while having left it on default/manual. on occt at full load it stayed at 1,46v until the test ended.

last but not least, most times i cant enter bios with my usb keyboard, no matter what usb port i use, sometimes it goes on for a second (nunlock key turns on) and im able to get into bios, but most times it doesnt. and it always works 100% once windows boots up. and yes all the usb settings are tuned on in bios.

not sure if necessary but just in case, my pc specs:

ocz 550w modular fatality powersupply
x6 1075t
radeon 6950 2gb
antes 620 watercooler
2x8gb mushkin 1600mhz 10-10-10-10-27
ocz agility 3 120gb
seagate 500gb 7200.12
sata dvd reader/writer
razer deathadder
zalman zs plus case (fans replaced with high cfm ones)
ms confort 2000 keyboard

thanks in advance, i really hope theres a way to fix this, ill hate having to replace the board and dealing with rma.

more information regarding some tests i did:

tried out the f13b bios, same thing. sometimes it shows 1,2750 on normal vcore, some times 1,42v and i dunno why

if i let everything on auto, inside windows with cool n quiet on idle it goes from 1,18v to 1,42 full (which is fine)

if i set everything to manual, turn off c1e and cool n quiet and let llc on normal when vcore shows 1,425 on bios + 0,025, then inside windows vcore at idle-full loadshows 1,28-1,33 . tested 30min no errors with occt BUT when i restart bios gives me error and asks me to remake the config.

this is giving me a headache, shoudl i just rma it or am i the one doing something wrong?

btw the 1075t was stable with 1,42v @3600 on an ecs 780gm-a ultra before.

second, one more thing, apparently the northbridge multiplayer doesnt work, if i lower it at the same multiplier that the ht one, lets say both 8x, the HT clock goes down, but the NB one stays at 10x. why?! is it defunct?


can i have some help so i can be sure if either im doing something wrong before i return this motherboard for a refund and go with another brand? please?!

Ive never been ignored by a major brand, and that tells me a lot, im returning the board to the store and going with another brand.

Hello !

In the summer season most people go on holidays ,so not to many users of this forum would answer you, trying to assist you with your issue ,as users (like you).Second of all it is not unusual to receive a reply after 2 weeks on a forum.

At first glance i would say there is some glitch.
On the other hand your issue arises while you are doing an over-clocking process ,which no manufacturer warranties ,so depending on the chip used you may have different results.
I would use a multimeter to measure the real voltage that feeds your CPU as software is software and has bugs and such.

This AM3+ mobos tend to behave better with Bulldozers from what i ve seen so maybe the X6 CPU is not suited to be over-clocked on this board with specific  BIOS-es ,try older BIOS .
But you could try and RMA the motherboard to the store you ve bought it if you feel it s the case.

Looks like you forgot to turn Core Performance Boost off. I used to think Load Line Calibration on 'auto' caused the cpu to overvolt but now know its CPB.

Did you load optimized defaults and clear the CMOS when necc during the bios flash ?

Did you leave 'keep DMI info' enabled ? If so, disable it and reflash the bios.

Did the cpu OC become unstable before or after you added the HD 6950 ?

Both your oc'd cpu and gpu are power hogs and might be wearing out your 550w psu. If the HD 6950 is running of the built in pci-e power connectors, use a 4pin molex to 6pin adapter instead. This will even out the power draw and help the psu run a bit cooler aswell.

Personally, I wouldn't run a 550w psu with that config at stock, let alone overclocked.

i already replaced the card to an asus one, so yeah im better thanks.

i dont oc the gpu, and im back to ocing the cpu to 3600mhz with the asus board. (cold cpu, stable voltages, stresses for 4 houras no problems, and no bios issues) and i used to oc the cpu on a tecnically inferior ecs a780gm a ultra motherboard.

450w would be enough for this system. (i know cuz a friend has the same specs with an 450w 80 plus bronze power supply.

the gigabyte board was crap, and i received no oficial support. thus the brand sucks.

i appreciate your help, i was curious if i might have done something wrong, but i guess i havent.
