X79-UD5 - Install Windows 7 x64 on SATA 3

Hi all,

Just a quick couple of questions please...I have followed the manual on installing Windows 7 (x64) to my Vertex 4 on SATA 0 (intel 6gb/s chipset) whereby it says browse to the DVD to select the drivers (Intel X79 \BootDrv\iRST\64bit) during the first part of the install procedure.  When I do this it find the drivers fine but says it cannot install windows to this location.  However if I just go with the default drives that Windows setup detects I can install Windows.

Why can I not use the instruction?  I have enabled AHCI in the BIOS and am not using RAID.

Am I ok to use the built in Windows drivers off the Windows Install DVD?  Do they support the full speed and TRIM?

Thanks in advance.
