I know it should run that Cpu but go and get i7-3770K Ivy Bridge. I had that Cpu on a EVGA Z77 board and it was giving all kinds of problem.
Put the Ivy bridge in and it was like all the bells & whistles came on. Plus I don't how Gigabyte Z77 board is that when you running that Cpu you are only getting 2.0 on your video card.
That is how it is on the EVGA. That Cpu doesn't support 3.0 video cards.
