PlZ READ! UEFI upgrade disaster!
« on: June 02, 2013, 05:43:12 pm »
Hi,

I'm gonna try and be short..

This i've tried 2 times

1. I have a Z68AP-D3 v.2 board
2. Updated to new UEFI bios from FB
3 Seems ok, but not i need it to work another OS too...see later
4. Used "BACK_TO_OLD..." utility to downgrade to both FD and FB
5. Used Q-BIOS to write again (to backup bios)
6. Thought all was well..was for W7...but
7. Booted to OSX on my multipbootcomp
8. OSX hangs halfway in
9. Push reset button
10. BACK COMES UEFI BIOS and says bios is corrupt and starts restoring backup to main
11. It tries to start maybe 15-20 times before it at last manages to get through so my system works again
12. Am stuck with UEFI seems liike
13. OSX worked flawlessly before update, and maybe i get it to work later
14. While looking into the wall infornt iI say to myself...smartass :-)

Anyone have solutions to this return of UEFI?

Hi xracer,

Hi there!

So if i understand correctly, the only way to write the good OLD standard NON-EFI BIOS back to the backup slot is by the ALT-F12 method?

Thanks for the help btw! :-)

I wanted to try and make OSX 10.6.8 boot with this UEFI bios. As I said above i had it working well on the old FB bios. I've tried som bootups but i definately hangs on the videocard system. I have a HD 6870 card btw. I did try som combinations with mapping around on the detection of Internal vs external video, but boot never like get to desktop. It kind of just before its showing up when i compare to the boot before when it worked.

Can anyone help me o this? I've tried different switches at the iBoot screen but no avail yet.

EDIT:

I managed to flash back to the FD BIOS (both main and backup) and after fiddling around with som settings i got back into OSX. Actually that was kind of important as i do alot of music stuff on that part. Anyway i think i will stick with the old system until i have to do a upgrade.
