Hi everyone
Here is the detailed version of what happened and what I did.

I have had this HTPC for about 14 month with no issue (after updating the BIOS, not sure what version now because I have no display).

I booted up the PC yesterday to find out that the ethernet card was saying  "no cable connected". Even the windows troubleshooting said that no cable was connected. So I tried another cable, reinstalling the drivers, updating the drivers to the latest with no success. It was always saying that there was no cable connected. There was no LED lit on the back of the motherboard. Also tried a different switch. The network is properly working.

Next I was suggested to reset the CMOS. I pulled the battery, waited a while and reinserted it. Plugged the power back in, and the ethernet LED lit back up and everything was working. So I shut it down, closed the case and plugged all my devices back. When I turned it back on, the video was missing (using HDMI). The PC look like it was booting normally but there is no video output so I can't access the BIOS or anything. I tried plugging only a VGA monitor or only a DVI monitor without success. Tried removing RAM sticks, HDD, nothing is working. I also tried the extended CMOS clear by removing the battery overnight.

I don't have a spare video card at the moment.

Is there something else I can try or should I RMA the board?

I'm just asking after you clear the cmos do go back in set it to defualt settings? Plus here is info that might help.

Unfortunately, I can't access the bios because I have absolutely no video output! I have ordered a cheap video card that I'll receive within the next few days though.

Maybe try with only one stick of RAM to access Bios.

Forgot to mention in the OP but I've already tried with only 1 stick of RAM, tried both DIMM and no success...

Is there any way to install it "blindly"? I cannot see anything on my monitor...

Or should I try to use the secondary BIOS backup?

yes try with a Backup bios:

Power down the PC and remove the Mains power supply.

Wait at least 30 seconds and press the power switch on the PC case to help clear any residue in the capacitors.

Reconnect the Mains power supply and start the PC and then press the:

Backup BIOS reflash:
ALT+F12 - AWARD BIOS

Make attention to choose Backup Bios to remplace Actual Bios (Main Bios).


If you have a P/S2 keyboard (especially on some of the older motherboards) then try this instead of a USB keyboard as it can help.
Make sure you are pressing the keys at the same time. Do this in the same manner that you would press the "Del" key to get into BIOS
If you are using a wireless keyboard try using a wired one for this process.
If you are using a USB keyboard make sure it is plugged into a USB2.0 port on the back panel and not running through a hub or connected using a USB3.0 port

Unfortunately, no luck, I never get any video output...

Also, the ethernet card looks like it's back down, no led are lighting up when I connect the card...

I'm gonna RMA it I think, it's gonna be quicker, I don't have much time for all the testing
