After changing BIOS default settings only slightly: "Verifying DMI Pool data"

Hello everyone and greetings from a cold and foggy Germany,

I hope you guys can help me with the following issue:

Ever since I updated my BIOS to F13 (board: GA EX58-UD5) my PC has been taking a long time to complete the POST procedures. Directly after I switch it on it shows "Verifying DMI POOL DATA" and keeps adding "dot after dot" after this sentence for about 10 or 20 seconds.

The funny thing is: When I turn my BIOS settings to Default settings, here's what the most important settings look like:






And here's how my computer starts with default bios settings:

As you can see, it boots up just fine with the BIOS default settings.

However, as soon as I customize only very few settings, like the ones marked red in the following 2 pictures, it would stop and show "Verifying DMI POOL DATA" and it keeps putting these dots after it.

But, in order for my SSD harddrive to run properly I should change into AHCI mode, shouldn't I? At least that's what I've been told and apparently that's when my computer starts changing the POST messages (as can be seen when comparing video 1 and video 2) and that's also when it keeps stopping at the "Verifying DMI POOL DATA" message.

What should I do? Are my customized settings correct? My SSD drive is the "Corsair" one, I've been wondering why it is not listed on top in my BIOS settings.

The Hard drive should be the first boot device. The next thing I'm going to ask WHY did update the bios?

If I flag the hard drive as first boot device, then how am I going to boot from a disc in order to install Windows?
Why I updated the BIOS? The default version of my board was F5 which I considered pretty old, so I checked for BIOS updates and found the latest Update F12. Besides people recommended me to flash to the latest BIOS version before integrating new components like a SSD drive.

So any solutions as to the problem I'm having?

I have a ssd drive that I ran on the first x58 board that came out and I never updated the bios.

Let me play around with a couple of my x58 boards. That is like I have read that people think you have to update the bios to run windows 8.

That same x58 board is running windows 8 as a test computer. I'll get back to you on this.

After I re read your post. In the Hard Disk Boot Priority the SSD has to be the first one in the list it will not do it on it's own. You have to move it.

Plus yes if you are installing windows on it what ever you are using to boot from will be the first one to boot from.

But after you are done installing windows you should change the boot order to the HHD. That will be the first boot device.

Then check to make sure that the SSD is still the one on top of the list in Hard Disk Boot Priority.

Plus I'm sorry that my head wasn't in it. I do Living History WWII & Civil War. We are busy this weekend. I was thinking more about that.

I have a similiar problem.

I have a GA-MA785GT-UD3H mainboard. Since I installed an OCZ Vector 128 GB SSD drive to SATA-0 port of this mainboard, in the place of my Western Digital HDD, computer started to freeze on boot after this message:

    Verifying DMI Pool Data ................
    AMD Data Change... Update new data to DMI!

I tried to change "OnChip SATA Type" to "ACHI", on "Integrated Peripherals" page on BIOS. This did not help. When I reinstall my HDD to its old place, I still get the same message but computer boots and Windows 8.1 starts. My SSD drive has the clone of the partition in my HDD.

I've been searching for a solution since yesterday. I've read an article about DMI here: http://searchenterprisedesktop.techtarget.com/tip/What-to-do-if-system-hangs-when-building-DMI-pool. It made me think that I should clear my DMI pool data in BIOS. I'll try to do that when I go home. I'll let you know about the result. If you find a solution, please share it here.
