I can't install Windows 7 on my new PC
« on: January 31, 2014, 04:26:43 pm »
Hello to everyone,
I'm new in this forum and also with Gigabyte hardware.
I've a bad problem: I recently assembled a desktop PC to work with, here's my configuration:

- MB: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC
- Processor: Intel i7-4770K 1150 Haswell
- RAM: Corsair Vengance Pro 4x8GB DDR3
- Graphic Card: Gigabyte GTX 770 4G
- Cooler Master V700 700w

At first I tried to build up an hackintosh configuration but, once I've set the BIOS, I'm stuck with a black screen says: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"... how annoying...
Several time and a lot of modify later(like change sata slot or BIOS Setup or boot priority or optical dvd reader) I finally decide to build a Windows configuration like always. I reset to default setting my BIOS than reboot with windows 7 DVD in my optical disk drive but nothing happened!! It always say me:"Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key".
At this time I don't have any idea on what it can be...
If someone have an idea on what can cause this problem and how to fix it please... please let me know it!!

Thank you!

Ivan

You are setting the DVD-Rom as the first boot device?

The only thing I would try is clearing the cmos and pull the battery. Let it sit 15 to 20 mins. Then try it again. You could have a bad DVD-Rom drive too.

BIOS Features
Boot Mode Selection
Allows you to select which type of operating system to boot.
UEFI and Legacy Allows booting from operating systems that support legacy option ROM or UEFI

I've already tried to reset the cmos but nothing; I also tried to change the DVD rom but nothing change.
I'm about to try to pull the battery than I'll let you know if there are many changes.
Thank you very much!

It sems I read something similar about the Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H, which I am about to get. It was noted that the CSM parameters set to UEFI/Legacy. It had to be set to Legacy OROM only.

Intel Core i7 4770K 3.5Ghz
Corsair Vengeance 4x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

The GA-z87x-OC Bios let me set the CSM parameter only if I select Windows 8 as my OS but I want Windows 7!! The only OS I can select is only "Other OS","Windows 8" or "Windows 8 WHQL". I also tried to pull off the battery from the MB but none append.
Thank's anyway for all of your answer... We'll solve this problem!!
