New Motherboard but no sound (ga-h87-hd3)
« on: February 03, 2014, 09:21:58 pm »
Hi all,

Just build my new PC using the GA-H87-HD3 as the motherboard. Now after installing all of the motherboard and graphic card drivers i find out that i can't get any sounds with my speakers or headphones.

The speaker icon next to the time shows a red X over it when i click on it it dose a test but is unable to fix it issue. when i go to Device Manager then sound it shows that it's installed and working.

After that i then went to sound in the control panel to look at the playback tab all it shows is 6 grayed out AMD HDMI output not plugged in.

I then tried putting it on my TV using a HDMI port connected to my graphic card and i had sound but i need to get sound from my speakers not my TV.

So now i am at a lose not sure what i should do? dose anyone know how to fix this issue or have any ideas on what to try next.

Thanks

Sean

I just did a test on mine and it is doing the same thing and that is the audio is disabled in the bios. It has the red X on the icon.

We just had a similar issue with this motherboard and a clean install of windows 7. Windows had the HDMI audio driver listed as "not plugged in". Once we installed the Intel Graphics driver from the CDROM that came with the motherboard (clicking through the warning suggesting that the existing driver was more recent), audio now works fine.

What graphics card are you using?
I had a similar issue right after installing a new Mobo and I couldn't figure it out for the life of me.

I went into my graphics card control panel and my graphics card settings had my sound configured to Realtek digital output, I switched it to HDMI output and it worked instantly after a restart  . . . .

Good luck to you .
