BSOD:STOP when USB3.0 Controller enabled in BIOS and plug USB device in, VL805

Dear forum members, I am asking you kindly for help.

I have GA-970A-UD3P.
Almost everytime I plug an USB device (mouse, USB flash, mobile phone) in, I got one of these Bluescreens
BSOD: STOP 0x000000c5
BSOD: STOP 0x0000003b
BSOD: STOP 0x00000019

I have got latest XHCI driver for VL805 from http://www.via-labs.com/en/support/downloads.jsp (tried also some earlier at first)
Sometimes driver installation crashed or is not finished.
When is, in device manager there are both microsoft and via drivers listed together.

Problem disappears when I switch off USB 3.0 Controller in BIOS.

Thread, that could have something in common: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,14299.0.html
When I switch off USB3.0 Controller in BIOS, drivers go to hell (same case as described in foreign thread).

I do not want to have MB replaced with lets say ASUS MB. I just got over another BSOD troubles with outdated AHCI amd_sata driver, causing BSODs with Intel 330 SSD. And started to like the board. After second bad experience with MBs, I am expecting another painfull troubles with another model :(

HDD 1,5TB Seagate Barracuda
PSU Seasonic EK OEM Bronze 500W (yes, it IS enough, I am sure, stable in newest games)

  • If it s not broken, fix it until it is !
BSOD-s with USB devices can happen if the USB case ports have issues or they are designed wrong.
Is that happening in all VIA ports ,even in the back ,the onboard ones?!

Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED

Vezina thank you for your reply.
It happened on all ports, back and front.

While I put together and installed new PC, I plugged in all devices, that worked o previous gigabyte MB and Vista 7 64bit. I went through install folder and installed ALL what could have come handy.

While troubleshooting new PC, disabling MS USB drivers and messing with old PS2 keyboard then  ::), I mentioned too many devices are plugged into USB port in the back. By unlugging all and step by step plugging them in, I came to that Belkin Nostromo Speedpad is what is causing BSODs. By further investigation new drivers to Belkin I get that last drivers are for Windows Vista (and on previous rig with Windows 7 the device was only used with luck).

Shame on me, I forgot device is unsupported. Two days in hell thanks to this. Hope this can lead somedy to right way while solving similar problem at least. Gigabyte and Via Labs are innocent in my case.

Glad you got it sorted out.
I doubted Gigabyte would have released a product featuring BSOD-s out of the box.:)
