I just setup my board and had no problems at all. The drive doesn't show up in boot option, but it does in the list of sata drive. I have mine set to raid too. I have the Z170x gaming 3.

Boot from the UEFI DVD, Set it windows 8/10, didn't touch the CSM, set the storage to UEFI, & set the Sata controller to Raid. I'm still say it has to do with the NVMe dirve. I'm using a Crucial MX200 M.2 Type 2280SS (Single Sided) 250GB SATA.

Thank you !! Be careful, you can not install the samsung' driver. Even the magician software ver. 4.9 does not see the hard disk.

You mean in Windows? Why not? Just the Intel RST driver?
What exactly happens when you install the samsung driver?
I thought best performance is only possible with Samsung's NVMe driver?

Interesting...
Mine didn't show up anywhere...until I loaded Intel RST drivers in Windows Setup...
After installing Windows, it showed "Windows Boot Manager - Samsung 950Pro" in UEFI as Boot Option...
(basically it showed the UEFI Boot Header)
Still, CSM had to be deactivated for mine to work...
So, you're right with "different drive, different problems/settings"...

This is good news.  So you disabled Legacy boot support (CSM), but had to provide the iRST driver (Formerly F6 option) for set up to see the NVMe, using UEFI.  Good work gentleman! Friggin' star for each of you...  you earned it :)

The Samsung NVMe Driver Installer http://ssd.samsungsemi.com/ecomobile/ssd/update15.do?fname=/Samsung_NVMExpress_Driver_rev10.zip say: "Samsung NVM Express Device is not connected. Connect the Device and try again."

Exactly...For me, this is the way to get it working in RAID-mode.

Interesting, will try that this weekend, maybe that's because of the Intel Rapid Storage RAID controller which is managing the Samsung 950pro... How is your performance without the dedicated Samsung driver?

Thx a lot, looks to me that performance is normal, even without the Samsung drivers...
Any other "restrictions"?

If the samsung's software does not work you can not set the space for over-provisioning (or you must do it manually) but most important you can't apply a new firmware !

I'm thinking if keep the system in RAID mode or go back to AHCI and buy a controller raid PCI-E  :o

This is the bench marking tool I use. AS SSD Benchmark http://www.techspot.com/downloads/6014-as-ssd-benchmark.html

There other tools on the site too. http://www.techspot.com/downloads/

Why you really not going to see much of a performance boost. AHCI & Raid are about the same. Like I have said in the past that it is all in what a person wants to do.

But if you do it benchmark both of them, before you put the card in and after. Then post what you come up with. That way people have a choose on another option.
