Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 + i5 3550 boot failure
« on: November 22, 2015, 10:55:02 pm »
Dear all,

This is my first post on this forum so let's hope it is worth while :)

I am finding difficulties running my Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 and Intel i5 3550, I am getting one beep on start up and then it will power off. I have also tried a different CPU fan with an i7 3770 and still having the same trouble. I read that the motherboard may be screwed in too tight so I took it out completely to carry out tests. I have tried the following RAM:

8GB Corsair Vengeance
4GB Corsair XMS3
4GB Crucial

I have a brand new Corsair CX750 PSU so an up to scratch PSU. I have also reset CMOS by taking out the battery and a power reset. I took all of the case plugs out i.e power switch, reset switch, hdd led etc and did the powerclip trick, the machine stayed on for much longer but eventually shut off. I have plugged in a ps/2 keyboard and a USB keyboard to try and get into BIOS but nothing happens.

Please see below the video:

I look forward to your responses.

Many thanks

What version board & what version bios. Yes the board will support the Ivory bridge but you need to update the bios. ver. 1.0 need f10 & ver. 1.3 needs f10.

Hi,

Many thanks for your response. The version of the mobo is 1.3, unfortunately it won't let me press any keys on the keyboard to try and update bios so unfortunately I am unable to tell which version of bios it has at present.

Many thanks

Try using a old keyboard that does not use usb, sometimes bios doesn't respond well with usb keyboards
