GA-B150-DS3H CPU Fan delay

Hi all,

I've upgraded my PC recently and now I'm facing a strange issue.
When I power up the PC the CPU fan has a delay of 6-7 seconds before starting and after that it starts at а very high rPM and then it goes back to normal . The same goes for the VGA .
These are the components:

MB: GA-B150M-DS3H DDR4
PSU: Huntkey Green Power 550W
CPU: I5 6600
RAM: 8 GB Kingston Hyper X 2133
GPU: Sapphire 7850 2 gb OC
SSD: 250 GB Samsung EVO 850
HDD: 1 TB SSHD Seagate

Any ideas how to fix that ?

I have seen that delay on a lot of CPU fans. I have seen a lot Intel boards do the speed up and then slow down. But on the video card I have not seen that speed up. Unless I never notice it because of the CPU fan.

I build a lot of computers maybe 25 a year. As long as it isn't speeding up and slowing down a lot when using it. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, I’ve also read about some Gigabyte MB that are working like that, but never actually saw one and I thought it was strange.
So you are saying that I shouldn’t worry about any future issues regarding this delay ?

Hello,

Most boards will have some kind of FAN RPM profile enabled, depending on this preset it may be to low for it to start when the PC has been off for a while.

To check enter the BIOS and disable the FAN profile, PC Health section.
CPU Fan Speed Control: set to full speed
1st system fan speed control: set to full speed.
...

See what happens when you turn on, should be max rpm, if not you got something else going on

The VGA is not part of the motherboard controller and will have its own fan profile determine by its own BIOS.
Same kind of thing too and you should have noticed this before or is this the first time using the GFX card?

I’ve tried to change the FAN settings, there are Silent, Normal, Full Speed and Manual modes.
Unfortunately the delay is still present.
The VGA is from my old system and it used to start at normal speed.  I’ve ran a lot of benchmarks and utilities to see if the system is stable and it passed all of them. I’m starting to think that’s just how this MB works, which is very annoying for a model that is considered as a new generation Motherboard.

Newer boards do have one difference with how they interact with hardware and that is related to UEFI (might be able to disable in the BIOS) but this is a strange issue.

I've tried only UEFI boot and only Legacy boot, but the result is the same .
I'm starting to regret buying this MB, this thing really annoys me .

I'm going to ask this again do you have it where the fans are speeding up & down in windows. Most board do what you are talking about. I Just sold a computer to some body and took their old computer that I had built for them 8 yrs ago.

It does the same thing the CPU fans speeds up and then slow down. Plus it is a old Abit board. I have a Intel board that does the same thing. Most of you AMD board do it more than the Intel's. It is normal for them to do this. I don't know what to tell you other then don't worry about.

In windows it works normal, no speed ups or anything strange. I've stopped worrying, but the loud noise when it starts is very frustrating for me, as I'm used to very quiet machines. But I suppose I can live with that, If can't I will buy another MB and sell this one.
