Hi!
I have the GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD5 TH Bios F5 with a i7-6700k, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 - AMP! Omega Edition, 16GB RAM Corsair RMi650


I have noticed that when i suspend the OS or the pc is off the consumption of the pc is about 30Watts (only PC no monitors etc..)!!!!
Isn't normal for a Erp Motherboard (Erp activated in the bios).
I ask also to the Corsair and they said that the problem is in the motherboard...

There is some functions to set in the bios??

How are you checking the power consumption and when it reads 30W is the CPU fan powered off too (PC completely off / standby mode?)

I use a wall power meter and I read 30W both when the pc is in standby mode (Cpu fan off) and when the pc is powered off. If I use the power switch on the rear of the PSU the consumption become 0W

30w draw does sound excessive.

What is plugged into the GPU?  Anything plugged into the TH port?

If you disconnect everything do you still get the 30w draw?

Better yet, please review all of the BIOS settings on page 60 of your manual.  The culprit may lie here unless its something plugged in we don't know about.

I have the same board using the following,

Celeron G3900
2x4GB DDR4
1TB hard drive
Corsair TX650
Cheap USB mouse+Keyboard set

When my board is powered off, I flick the switch on the back of the PSU it reads 2.2W.
My actual running power consumption at the desktop is 25W.

I would say try without the GFX card + no USB devices. (What shadowsports said)
Other than that, have you ever tried powering just the PSU to measure its power draw?

I haven't TB devices... i use only 1 USB3.0 to the monitor HUB the i connect an hub, soundbar Dell, card reader and 1 USB2.0 for the Bluetooth receiver (for mouse and keyboard). Moreover two monitor via Display port...

now try to disconnect everything (i think that i already make this test...) and check the watts...

Ok, i have just tested the MB...

If i disconnect every cable from my pc except the power i have 30 watt...
If i disconnect every internal cable from my PSU (SATA cables, Video Power, and MB power) i have 30 watt... The only PSU

If i switch off the power switch on the PSU i have 0 watt....

So i think that the problem can be the PSU... Corsair RM 650i

Interesting to see the PSU self load being 30W, the i version does have some additional circuitry for the rail switching / USB interface. Back to Corsair and see what they say have to say

Right, because it will still draw power...

It's the same thing as plugging in a cell phone charger. Even if nothing is plugged in, the cellphone charger will still draw power. That is entirely normal.

I think I do not buy more corsair.... :-(

That is a disappointing reply.

Essentially a PSU doesn't have to meet any standby requirement unless it complies with the ErP specification, an EU directive.

People People the PSU will still draw power in standby, in sleep mode, and even when the computer is off. You have to flip the switch to kill the power. If everything is working fine when the computer is running. Then there really is nothing wrong.

If you are having problems when running then that is a different story. Plus look at page 59 & 60 in your book on this. Plus you said you would not buy that brand of PSU the others might still be the same. PSU is a PSU. Here is some links to some info on this.

I have several Corsair PSU's in use.  My experience has been the same as ElectroStingz.  When shutdown and rocker switch is "on" I still see a 2-3w draw.  Never really thought about it.  I'm measuring with a UPS, so not sure how accurate that is.  Lots of appliances use power when off but plugged in, so it doesn't really bother me.  My z97 board and NAS both have ErP but I don't use them.  I'm also a corsair guy, and am not going to switch to another brand.  I know however, there are other good PSU's out there.  After dealing with their no nonsense warranty replacement and getting a new PSU back with only 2-3 days of down time, I was sold.  I like them and EVGA.  Both have some of the best customer service in the industry.  These are two companies that get my $$$

The PSU would only consume less than 1 watt if it is powered off through the switch in the back. In all other situations, components in your computer would be drawing power.

Don't forget this, the PSU alone is 30W with nothing attached to it
