If you already own the card please update the motherboard latest BIOS to check it works.

If it doesn't contact Gigabyte for further help.

If you are hoping to use a NvME drive with this board (even with an adapter), I wouldn't bother, even with the latest BIOS.  Probability for success booting from anything connected to an adapter (this board) is low.

It will not even see it. I have a Silverstone adapter that you can run a Nvme drive through the Pcie slot or you can connect with a sata cable. If I try to use the Pcie slot it doesn't see it. If use the sata cable it treats it as a reg SSD.

There are two types of M2 drives the Nvme drives and non Nvme drives. All Nvme drives will likely not run in any thing older then the Z170 boards.
