Ya, that's a tough decision.  I wouldn't update the main to F10 unless you plan to abandon further troubleshooting.

I'm curious.  If you return the BIOS switches back to defaults (dual) and press ALTl+F10 does the system prompt to copy main to backup?

You don't have to proceed if this isn't clear.  You can exit by pressing/holding the power button.    You'll have to decide if you want to attempt reflash.  You should still be able to use the switches to boot from a working BIOS.

I am getting to the point where I just want it to work  ::)

I won't be updating the main to F10 until I can boot successfully from both main and backup.

So holding Alt+F10 does ask if I want to copy the main > backup. I exited out and have not done it yet.

If you can boot the system using single bios settings and are sure boot is happening from BIOS 1 I think you are going to be OK and will end up back at square 1 with two F5 BIOS'.

Worse case, the working BIOS will fail to copy and you will still have F5 on the primary BIOS chip.

So I booted using single bios settings to confirm I was able to boot from BIOS 1 however that never transferred over to the backup BIOS.

I decided to go forward with the ALT+F10 technique and it sucesfully copied my working BIOS (F5) from main > backup. I can now boot successfully from both and both are on the old F5.

I plan on flashing F7 (last version I was on) to main later tonight and just leaving everything as it is.

Thumbs up brother!   :) You deserve a beer!  Congrats on recovering.  I knew the older boards (without switches) would copy the BIOS in the event of failure, but hadn't heard what you saw in your manual happening before unless done manually.  Glad it all worked out.  Stressful for sure.  You've just proven to me again that walking away from Asus and their single bios (after 13 years) was a good decision. The dual BIOS is truly a great thing.

Thank you sir, I appreciate all of your help! The dual BIOS definitely was clutch and will be a key feature for me when I upgrade next!
