X58A-UD5 rev2.0 memory 6GB (usable 4GB)

Always 6gb on coldstart after updating bios to F6 beta so that is nice!
But I have got a few bsod after updating  so I did a Intel Burn test.
After 5-10 minutes IBT reports errror, same thing with OCCT Linpack test. No BSOD, but error.

So I loaded optimized settings and went down from my ordinary OC 4ghz to stockspeed, But I am still getting errors from IBT and OCCT.

I also flashed the latest official F6 but the results are the same.

Never had any issues with F5.

Any ideas? could it be new bios that makes the computer unstable?

If it has only been happening after the updated BIOS then it would seem so. Was there a particular reason for the update? If not I would suggest reflashing to F5.

The reason was as you can read in my earlier post in this thread  that bios only found 4 of my 6gb when doing a coldstart.
That problem is now gone! But as new has entered the scene :-)

I reflashed to F5 but my problem is still here. Random blue screens a few times a week more often when  idle than on load
and Intel Burn test reports error after 5-15 minutes.

I have tried:
Reflash to F5
Memtest 4 passes
Load failsafe / optimized config in bios

But no luck.

I have not had a single problem OC to 4gHz (except  for the missing ram when doing cold boot) since I built my system in april.
But after flashing to F6 my instability problems started.

Any Ideas?

I would definitely advise you to check the pins on the CPU socket very carefully as this has proved to be the most common cause of the missing memory. You will need a well lit situation and maybe a magnifying glass. If you are in any doubt take a few close up photos(macro) and post them here.

Could a bent pin cause my sudden bluescreens?
As I mentioned after updating to F6 my memory problem disappeared. But I got the random bluscreens instead.
Reflashing to F5 did not help to get rid of the bluescreens.

I am not so comfortable removing my cooler and CPU ( I bought the PC mounted)
Well,,,I will give it a try, just need to buy a life insurance and some thermal paste first :-)

As long as you are carefull there is nothing to removing the CPU. It is not at all dangerous to the person and as long as static precautions are observed to the chip either. Remove the cooler first and be carefull as it will be stuck to the CPU with the thermal compound(which you must replace on refitting). The pins are very small and not easy to see. I would advise also taking some macro images with a camera if possible.

I have the same problem on a x58a ud3r, 6gb  4gb usable. does not do it all the time, im using 3x2gb muskin redline 1600 ram. Last night it was 6gb, today it is 4, next time i boot might be 6 or 4, it never changes to anything else.

Well I would give you the same advice. Check the CPU socket pins but be carefull. If necessary post the pictures here and we will check them out for you. Post back afterwards.

Just to let you know about my experience with this issue. It may be a number of reasons, but I have a EX58-UD5 finding 10GB instead of 12 on each reboot.

I took the PC for service, they replaced the mobo with a new one and the same problem was there. After that they replaced the CPU. Still the problem persisted. Now I am expecting a UD3R for a replacement. If the problem happens with this motherboard too then there is no doubt that there is something terribly wrong with these motherboards and bigger amounts of RAM.

The internet is literally full of reports of users with the same problem. Unfortunately, most of them like me, did not have bent pins or problematic memory modules. I believe it is not random that so many people experience this issue.

Whilst I would agree that there do seem to be a lot of these cases around there are also a lot of people quite happily runing with a full set of memory. I know in your case it isn't down to bent pins etc but a lot of these problems are traced to that or some other reasonable explanation. If it was a design problem nobody would be able to run with full slots.

I thought I solved my problems... There were no problems when I used quick boot feature in ET6. As soon I initiated cold boot, everything changed - BSODs all the time. So I checked every stick of RAM in every slot and one stick gave tons of errors in every slot. Other two gave none or few errors. So i returned RAM and local dealer approved RMA and also change to Corsair (thank you guys!). Now I'm waiting for delivery. I hope that it will solve this mess. In meantime I also rechecked CPU pins and they all seem to be ok. But with so many problems, I can't be even sure my eyes are ok

If the memory was faulty that would explain your problems and so let's hope that some new good quality RAM will do the trick.

I received replacement RAM - Corsair Dominator CMP6GX3M3A1600C8. For now it look it is working perfectly, with same settings I used before - bclk 191. Have to do some more testing but I guess that this nightmare is over :-)
